I was the out of town guest of a friend who invited me to get a Couples Massage. Before my arrival in Cleveland, my friend shared that she was using a groupon and had problems contacting the agency. When she finally received a call back from them she was told that we could not get a couples massage, but she could take us one at a time. My friend shared this information with me and I was completely fine with separate massages.
When we arrived for the appointment the door was locked. My friend knocked on the door and no one answered. She knocked again and rang the doorbell, and was told to come in. She responded that the door is locked and that we could not come in. The person working on June 1st, a young woman with a European accent, did not greet us or give us her name. My friend extended her hand to shake her hand, and the person working on June 1st, went immediately to her desk, stood beside it, anxiously began asking for the groupon, telling us that she could not provide a couples massage and could only take one person at a time. My friend said she understood all of this because they had discussed it on the phone. She told her that I would go first and that she would wait out front. This person working on June 1st, then became sarcastic, she stated that my friend had to leave the office and suggested that she go someplace and eat breakfast. My friend told her that she had had a banana for breakfast and preferred to wait in the office. This person working on June 1st quipped that she was not a nutritionist and did not need to know what she had for breakfast. At this time, I became very concerned, this person, working on June 1st, sounded like she was not happy to have "us" in her office. As I was completing the application, this person, went to the back to prepare for my massage, my friend and I decided that "we" would not be disrespected and treated unfairly by this unorganized, unprofessional person, working in this dingy Fairmount Massage office on June 1st. When she returned, we told her that we were not going to stay, she grabbed the groupon from her desk and shoved it at my friend (who had already paid for the services) and told us that, "She did not want to touch 'us' anyway" and slammed the door when we left.
I was truly disappointed with this person who was working on June 1. Actually, it was my suggestion to get a massage while I was in Cleveland because two years ago, while visiting Cleveland, my friend took me to a massage parlor on the west side which was marvelous!! The owner needs to provide racial sensitivity training to their personnel so that other customers will not be subject to the disrespect we encountered at the Fairmount Massage Parlor on June 1 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Appointment made for a Couples Massage. This required leaving three different phone messages before receiving a return phone call. After the massage was scheduled, received a phone call two days before the scheduled service reporting that they were not able to do the Couples massage simultaneously and would I consider having them done one at a time. Or either rescheduling once she moves to a new location. Since I had out of town guests for graduation weekend, I needed to keep the scheduled date and agreed to a 9am & 10am appointments on Monday, June 1st.
When I arrived for the appointment, the door was locked. I knocked and rang the door bell. I heard someone shouting "It's Open" I tried again with no success and replied "No, it's not 0pen". The owner came to door and opened it. She was not very friendly and when she extended her hand I assumed she was going to shake my hand and introduce herself. She did not shake my hand but instead requested the Groupon coupon I had in my hand. It was clear that she did not want to shake my hand.
She was very rude and unprofessional. She asked if I wanted to go downstairs and eat at one of the restaurants while she did the first massage. I told her I would wait and had already eaten some fruit. She replied I'm not a Nutritionist! Apparently, she did not want me to wait in her office. Office was cluttered, dirty and disorganized.
After she went to set up the room, my friend and decided we would not receive services from an unprofessional, biased woman. She quickly went to her desk area and grabbed the Groupon and returned it to me. She replied " I didn't want to touch you anyway" and slammed the door after we left! She spoke with an accent, not sure of her European ethnicity but is it clearly not how we treat others in a culturally diverse society. I have never been treated so badly in my life and would never return to this establishment!
