Have lived in building for 9 years. Was bought by Fairfield last year. On Expiration of my lease they rasied the rent 25%. previous years had gone up no more than $25. On receiving new lease this year, they wanted to raise rent another 10% or to nearly what the rent is in the newly renovated apartments. I logically inquired when they would be making renvoations to my apartment with the new rent. Erin said they would not be doing anything. I asked to speak to her supervisor.
Finally after multiple emails i got a read receipt from someone that on googling his name I realized was her supervisor(David Berger) I aslo got read receipts from another gentleman (Michael Broxmeyer) that on googling his name found out he is the owner. My first complaint was that no one was getting back to me but neither of these gentleman could bother to pick up a phone or click the reply button. I emailed back that I thought the customer service was deplorable and disgustiong and couldn't believe that they would read the emails and not bother to respond.
I submitted reasonable maintenance requests throught their portal for such things. 1. Replace broken dorm size fridge with proper full size fridge like renovated apartments. 2. Replace carpet that had not been replaced before I moved in. 3. Fix/replace vanity that was damaged during their renvoations to outside of property. 4. Replace missing screen. 5. Fix broken/missing tiles in bathroom floor. 6. Sand/paint banister that was put in without being properly sanded or painted.
I believe none of these are unrasonable requests for an additonal $6000 in rent in two years.
instead of calling, replying or addressing maintenance issues, I received a certified letter stating that they were rescinding the new lease offer and I was required to move out by the end of my lease.
