I needed my DD214 for a job with my local public safety department. I paid $9.95 at ezdd214.com to submit my request to the "correct" records location that holds my file. I was encouraged that ezdd214.com would submit my request and I was informed this could take 2-4 weeks and to include mail time.
Six weeks later, as USPS does not take 2 weeks to mail documents, I contacted ezdd214.com through their website requesting information on whether there had been a hold up or issue submitting my request. I was advised via a generic e-mail template response to contact the NPRC for further information. After waiting on hold for 20 minutes, I was informed by the NPRC that a request was not submitted to them under my name, S.S. number, or address to where my records were to be mailed.
Subsequesnt e-mails through the website or to the email addresses provided in their payment confirmation and their only reaponse to my intial inquiry were left unanswered.
After digging on the internet for contact information for USMC HQ for records in Quantico, I was able to request my DD214 with the Head of Manpower Management Records and Performance Branch. I received my records in less than a week.
ezDD214.com contends that they "cut out the middle man" in requesting your military records. However, this website IS the middle man. Customer service and interaction is poor and barely above non-existent.
This website is a sham and their claims are false. I hope this helps another vet in deciding to avoid this site, and it's affiliates, like they would a two-dollar hooker on shore leave. $9.95 is a 28 count pack of diapers, my friends.
You better believe this is going to the BBB and my state's Attorney General's office and equivalent office for the state of New York as well. This site should not be allowed to defraud another vet.
