Attended the free 3 day camping in Oct of 2014, but due to work requirements could only spend one night, so we rushed the sales pitch, I knew i had no interest on the Colorado river but was told that they had partnered with Coast to Coast and they showed me 2 cataloges of resorts that I could stay at for free (the big cataloge) or for only $15 dollars a night (the small cataloge). The flyer I was showed at the presentation didn't mention it was only for 1 year. I did some quick math in my head and thouhgt that over our life span it might be nice to spend nights while traveling in a resort instead of rest areas or truck stops. I was showed that the monthly payments if I financed would be real low. I also didn't like the $250 annual maintenance fee since I wouldn't be using it enough to justify, so I was offered $125 annually but would have to pay $15 per stay at CRA parks but not at the Coast to Coast parks. I was also told my first annual fee would be covered. I asked if they could hold my contract till 2015 so I would get the whole year. To my surprise he agreed so I didn't actually become a member til 3-1-15 so we went ahead and signed the contract.
Long after the 3 day cool of period passed I found that Coast to Coast was only a year trial memebership and the number of restrictions such as length of stay made it unusable. I questioned about this that the flyer I was given didn't mention that it was a trial membership, the lady on the phone said she knew that but it was in the contract signed. I had rushed thru the contract and had accepted what was being told to me instead of looking for myself. I also noticed the high interest rate we wre being charged and couldn't believe I signed it, so I called for a payoff amount and sent a check marked "payed in full". I have now recieved a letter for more money so I called again and am now told I only payed part of my annual dues and with the $20 late fee I owe $75. I am afraid that this is going to be a reacurring nightmare.
As far as the Resort goes, the 1 night free stay worked out alright, the hookups and cable tv worked good, the tour of the rental trailers and cottages were nice. Since I just pissed away 10 grand we decided to make another 1 night stay and take our daughter with us and rent her her own trailer to stay in. Her trailer was well used, one could say worn out, but we were there for only a night to let the dogs swim. To our surprise the bar/grill quit serving food at 5 so we decided to eat at at our RV with the groceries I brought but the cable only got checker board reception totally unwatchable so we went to my daughter trailer that had a real small analog tv, but it only got channel 3. I told another camper I was going to see about changing spots and how was his row for reception. He told me they are all like that and thats why he has dish tv.
My advice to everyone is to just stay away. The tablet is new but never worked and I only recieved half of my fuel rebate. I can supposedly sell my membership but whoever buys it has to pay full hookup costs when they stay plus the annual dues. I can't screw someone like that. I am thinking about letting one of those news investgative reporters know and then just cancel and look at that 10 thousand as one very expensive lesson.
