Ever been told about a Dr. who has 30 years experience, you come away realizing he has one year times thirty?
Translation: he got a certain amount of knowledge and then his mind was made up, not just on all areas of medicine, but on everything. This is Kormylo, an individual who isn't even an MD, but a DPM. He has a textbook heading knowledge on the way the world works, and can't be told anything because he's the world's authority.
This arrogant wise guy routine resulted in a pathetic, inappropriate lashing out and me when I approached him as I do any Dr.: with respect and cordiality. He belittled me at a time when I was suffering terrible anxiety and genuinely terrified that I might need surgery and wouldn't be able to walk again without pain.
The big problem here is a man in a hurry due to out of control overbooking. You wait perhaps 45 minutes in a waiting room dominated by Section 8 and Medicaid and a very odd, free standing placard for Medical Arts Radiology (MRI). Indeed, this expensive procedure was recommended immediately. Then you get called, and go into the back and wait even longer.
Kormylo is not thorough and doesn't know attention to detail. How could he, when he's squeezing in as many as possible? Something was given me the second visit when I asked that should have been given automatically the first visit.
His childish, completely unprofessional manner actually resulted in name calling on his part that was an insult to a deceased member of my family. He thinks he's funny, but personally and professionally, he was a disgrace, the most infuriating experience ever with a Dr.
Bottom line? I still have issues with both feet. He was so rushed, there was no sense of completeness. I'd have no problem returning even two more times, but you'd be looking at a full work day of wait time and time with him. Not a chance.
I am not beneath you, little man. You are a slightly large fish in a very big pond of mainly welfare and Section 8 who are too dumb to know the difference. I do, and I resent it.
You do not look down your nose on me or the memory of my family. Every person living and dead on both sides of my family have been burned by misdiagnoses, lying, incompetent surgery and death during delivery of a baby. Don't you dare put me on your level simply because I can see right through you. Every Dr. is no different from a new auto mechanic, they have to gain my trust.
You remind me of the old expression: You're like teaching a pig to sing. It's a waste of time, and it only succeeds in annoying the pig.
Find these comments harsh, condescending, childish? Think you can shoot your mouth off and say whatever you want? You brought out a level of anger and bitterness in me that rivals any Dr. I've met. Quite an accomplishment, even for a sad zero like you.
Potential patients to any Dr. need to check them on Health Grades, especially for wait time. For this field, use apma dot org.
Here are some suggestions:
Learn some manners. I paid part of your salary those two visits, not vice versa.
Develop the fine art of listening. Just because you never heard of it doesn't mean there isn't anything to it.
Accept your place. You're not affiliated with a prestigious hospital like Stony Brook and aren't in an upscale area like Roslyn or Great Neck.
Stop deliberate overbooking. Either expand your hours or give more time to your patients. Try apologizing when you're late.
Get rid of the MRI placard. Something real odd, maybe inappropriate about it.
Consider a high quality bozo the clown suit. It will amuse the illiterate that come there, while the occasional individual who knows how to think will fume and just be eager to leave ASAP. But hey, then you can squeeze in even more people.
