I got a flyer in the mail advertising their website for "Top Cash for your Used Electronics." Their website has a comprehensive list of laptops and cell phones and provides immediate quotes for your device. They provide packaging and shipping both ways if necessary per their terms and conditions Par F. No trouble contacting them for Q&A. My first quote for a netbook was $145, then a few days later, it went up to $190! This is way over market (Craigslist & Ebay), especially if they are going to recycle it for parts. (not).
Sent it in and about five days later got an email quote for $11 for a working device in great used condition. You only have 3 days to respond per Par. F and it has to be verbally by phone so I tried contacting them. Curiously, the same number that worked so well now required an on hold wait of 50 minutes, before a "receptionist" transferred me to Purchasing where the call was dropped after ten minutes. I called back a few hours later and waited about 30 minutes for the receptionist and told her my last call was dropped. She said Purchasing was slower now and I waited about ten minutes before Purchasing picked up. They had all my records and the inspection report which cited a bad battery and light scratches on the case (no big deal, especially for a device to be parted out.) After much haggling, I said 'No problem, send it back'. She responded 'I can't.' (not I won't, or any explanation why she couldn't.) I mentioned Par F and that I was within the three days and they had to send it back and she repeated, she can't, and no, they didn't. So after still more haggling, we agreed on a check for $55, about a third of the initial quote. A check for the full amount arrived quickly, was deposited and I hope it doesn't bounce.
A few comments- this is in no way a green recycling outfit, they won't even bid online on devices that can't be resold on ebay or pawned. If you want to environmentally recycle your device, try locally. There's usually places like Best Buy or Costco that will responsibly dispose of it. If you want to sell it, try a pawnshop or ebay or CL.
The loophole they exploit in the T&C to not return your device is Par. M-
M. Failure to Return Product or Contents Thereto. Under certain limited circumstances, at no fault of ours, we may not be able to return your item and you agree to hold us harmless from any loss regarding our failure, when outside of our control, to return your device to you. We will never under any circumstance duplicate or return any software or data contained on your device.
So your bargaining leverage is virtually nil. They don't have to return your device and after three days, they can send you a check for the lowball emailed offer.
I called the Sparks Police, Waushau Cty DA and NV Atty Generals office. The police have a hundred complaints already and the Atty General has already taken them to court. A Mr. John McGlammery at 775.684.1169 at the Carson City Atty Generals office would be interested in getting written reports from you in support of the case against them.
Lastly, if you're reading this before shipping your device back, the laptop box is big enough for two or three bricks on which the postage would be enormous.
Ok so i have recentley upgraded to the iphone 6 so i had and iphone 5c 16gb that i no longer needed so was looking to make some cash by selling it i found this company online and it all sounded good they gave me a qaute online for my phone for $88 dollars i was at first not wanting to do it because it sounded real cheap and as u all know these phones cost alot of money but . now not trying to be greedy i said ok i will do this for $88 dollars they send me a box to ship phone and said it would take a few days to inspect the phone and then would send out a check we'll its been 3 weeks and i finally get a email saying congratulations your check for 8 dollars is on its way i said are u kidding me i want my phone back i did not agree to receive 8 dollars i got hung up in my face by customer service was told theres nothing i could do . we'll i just got off the phone with sprint and reported my phone stolen because honestley it is because ive asked to have my phone returned and they denied to send it to me so now the phone is black listed and they cannot activate the phone my next move is to call the police and also file a stolen report so please people do not and i mean do not send your phone to these scammers i hope these reports help to get something done to this company because i cant imagine how many people have got scammed !!!!
Ecyclebest is a company that buys your cell phone and other electronics. Their link gives you an online estimated quote and then when they receive your electronic device they quote another amount. My cell phone was worth $97 and they sent me $15. Do not send them your electronic device!!!!
I e-mailed several times and it wasn't until they had the check on the way that I got an answer telling me to call. I did, after a few attempts, get through. It was at that point that I learned that I had to contact them by phone (an e-mail doesn't count) that I was unhappy with their actual amount within 3 days.
I did not see this fine print and I did not get any responses from the company to my e-mails until after the deadline. They even admitted they had received my previous e-mails (I sent one every day), which were within the time limit. But since e-mails don't count as contacting them, too bad for me.
Please go to yelp and read all the other bad experiences. Everyone is given a fraction of the actual quote of what they will pay for the phone or other electronic device. Legally, they have you. The best I can do is warn people on every web site I can find.
Yelp goes by the city, so I didn't find these bad reviews until it was too late.
I put faith in this company when they quoted me a price for my Iphone 5. They promised 213.00 and then when they got the phone they only offered me 16.00. Now, I was promised 3 days to refuse their offer of 16.00. However, I called three times and they put me on hold and eventurally hung up on me. No person in the United States should trust this company. They are only rip off artists. Disappointing to say the least. Everyone should be aware of the shady practices this company is involved in. Shame.
After using device recycler's/reseller's like Gazelle, Glyde and NextWorth in the past for selling my old mobile devices and having good success with them, I decided to try a new name that popped up on Google this time around: ECycleBest.
On January 13th, they gave me an estimate of $107 on their website for my iPhone 4S 64GB which was a bit high but I thought if I got half that after inspection, it would still be better than Gazelle, which offered me $30. My experience with these sites in the past is that they have never lowered their initial offer to me after inspection. I have always shipped them clean, formatted phones in great condition so I haven't had reason to worry. I figured ECycleBest would be no different.
On January 20th, we shipped the phone out after receiving a box from ECycleBest to ship it in on the 17th. I received an email from them on January 23rd that the phone was received and would be inspected shortly.
Saturday January 25th I received that fateful email that it seems so many other of ECycleBest's customers have gotten. They said the final offer for my phone was $8 and that it was fair and per their Terms & Conditions. The following is some of the very misleading text of that email:
"After carefully inspecting your device by hand, seeing its condition, and following up-to-the-minute market conditions—you’re owed $8 for the device."
"This is the same amount we’d pay everyone else for the same device right now, and it follows the Terms & Conditions we agreed upon when you sent your device."
"No more waiting around; our accounting team is processing your cash right now, and within 3 business days we’ll be sending you your PayPal payment."
---
There were no links in the email on how to contact them to dispute my evaluation even though I had read their Terms & Conditions and knew full well that I had 3 days to contest this low-ball offer (i.e. the 3 business days they say in the email that they have to wait to give me my precious $8).
This is when the real fun began. I started calling their Customer Service number on Monday, January 26th, the first business day that I was able to. I called first thing at 7am PST and was told there was an "unusually high call volume" by an automated message. I spoke to a live CS rep after on hold a few minutes who informed me of the same and added that Mondays were their busiest day. I was put on hold to wait to talk to their Purchasing Dept. to dispute my claim. After 10 minutes of waiting, my call was ended and the automated message told me to call back after 1pm PST. I called back 4 more times that day, only to get the same results. Forwarded to Purchasing, kicked off the line. On my last call they claimed that the Purchasing Dept. was having technical difficulties and had left for the day.
I tried back on Tuesday, January 27th 4 more times and tried to get them to let me talk to a manager. They put me on hold and the system kicked me off again. Today was the last day I tried to call (theoretically, the last of my 3 days to contest) and the CS reps were very short with me both times and put me on hold before I had finished asking for assistance.
There were only 2 reps that I spoke to, Brittany & Tabitha, and both had been trained very well. I asked them how much longer I had to dispute and they said that today was my last day. I questioned how I could possibly be held to their bogus T&C when I had been trying feverishly to contact their Purchasing Dept. They said their system indeed kept track of the many times I had tried to contact them. They seem unconcerned and told me that it was just a high call volume and didn't think it was a problem on their end.
At best, these guys are ill-prepared for the type of business they run and at worst they are very illegally scamming innocent consumers. After calling them 10 times and receiving no assistance whatsoever in my claim, I fully believe the latter. ECycleBest needs to be shut down.
After purchasiing my new iPhine6, my iPhone5 was in perfect condition and wanted to get the most money in return. I found eCycleBest.com where they quoted me $207. They sent me a box to return and on January 23, 2015 I received an email from them stating that they were going to give me $16. I emailed them back and said I do not agree and to return my phone. On January 28, 2015, they sent an email saying it was too late. But originally I had three days to approve or disapprove of offer. When I called today after receiving email, they first tried to tell me that the phone was not in good shape. My phone was perfect! Then they proceeded to tell me I had three days to verbally call. I want someone to take class action suit against this fraudulent company. They will not return my phone, but coincidentally their email came after three days. They are a complete scam and something needs to be done!
This company offers to buy my used cell phone. They ask the type of phone, the cellular company i used, condition of phone.
They immeidaely quoted me a price that i was comfortable with. They emailed me to let me know they were mailing me a shipment box to put the phone in. and also asked me how I wanted to be paid. and I answsered by check.
My phone was in excellent condition, so i wasn't surpried that they quoted me $100. When they received the phone, they said they inspected it and was sending me $15.. They didn't ask whether that was ok or did I accept the quote..
The next email I got was that they were mailing the check.
As soon as I got the email of the mis-quote, I started trying to reach them by the same email they emailed me with and also by my personal email that was on my file. NO RESPONSE.
Then I tried calling them and kept getting forwared to PURCHASING..to a recording that had me on hold or 30 minutes or more. I tried this number several times. with no AVAIL..
I told them in the emails to send my phone back and also told the live operator that answers the phone before she transfers you to PURCHASING that i wanted my phone back. She quickly transfered me.
This company quoted me $476 for 3 devices (two LGG2 phones-brand new and a brand new tablet). They said to send it in, then they would send me the check. I understand the quote wasnt guaranteed, but when I received $75 in the mail...I was mad! I started trying to email/call in September. Everytime they emailed back, they told me to call the generic phone number. I asked for them to call me, which they eventually did, only to put me on hold for 20 minutes...then hung up on me. I have yet to talk to anyone about the situation on the phone, only via email. But every single email I get back is the same answer...call the phone number. I even asked for a supervisor to call me, with no response. This is ridiculous. If they would have told me how much they were actually sending me before they sent it out, I would have never consented. I would definitely have asked for my devices back.
Ecycle best is a ripoff, I sent almost new phones, after getting a quote for $226 and $320 they sent me a check for $60. I called the same day I received the check and asked for them to return my device. They said I had 3 days after the check was issue to ask for my device back. At that point the device had been sold. After and hour conversation they offered me 140 dollars more. I wanted to talked to the manager, but he was not available. I have been calling the manager everday and he is always busy. Today they told me the managers is in Jury duty and will be gone for 12 weeks. I asked for another manager and first they told me she was on vacation and then that she had an emergy and will be out. I would never do business with this company. Watch out, they would take your device, sell it and then offer you no even a 10% of the amount they sold it for.
I wanted to sell my fairly new phone online and ECycle Best quoted me $430 for my phone which was just slightly better than other websites. I shipped it to them and waited. They finally sent me a check for just $68. I called them numerous times and was put on hold forever. When I finally got through to someone after a 30 minute hold, they informed me that it had already been processed and they couldn't do anything. I told them that I was quoted $430 and only received $68. They said the terms and conditions language allows them to do that. Don't do business with this company!
"This is a complete rip off! They quoted me $203 for an iphone 5c and a Galaxy Note II. At the end of the day they sent me a check for $93 for both phones, which I never agreed to. Then, after finally calling and calling one rep says that I have to speak to purchasing. The rep in purchasing offerd me an additional $51 for one phone and $54 for another. When I told him that I was going to report him, he said that he doesn't have to give me anything. Also, I sent them a Galaxy Note II earlier this year that they paid $175 to me. When I asked why are they low balling the man wanted to hurry up and get off the phone. I requested a number of times to speak to his supervisor and he hung the phone up in face. I have verifiable proof that both of my phones were in super excellent condition. When I requested to have my phones sent back to me, he told me that there is no way to do that because they've been processed and my claim is closed.
I would not EVER recommend this company to anyone."
It is urgent that something is done to stop this company from stealing our devices and using their claim to fame phrase, "Your device has some wear and tear on it." I have photos and videos of both of the phones I sent. I want to file a suit against these theives.
Quoted $127 for a 100% working iphone 4s, no broken glass, my daughter sent in and a week later I received $11 in my paypal account, no offer (like they promised), wouldnt return emails, they want you to call, you are on hold a half hour, I told them fine if its only worth $11 I would like to have back, they refused and said they were following the contract I signed.
First of all it was my 15yr old daughter they lured in with a promise which they did not or have any intention of fulfilling. when I asked why they didnt return email its because, "do you know how unsecure and theives there are in email....hmmm why yes, yes I do....Ive been trying to email them for three days with no response. I immediately returned the $11 dollar paypal payment, so when he informed me I had only three days to accept "their offer", he said that that is all they are legally bound to do.
I guess if $100 means so much to them that they are willing to lie cheat and steal for it...well im sure they'll be out of business soon...so when you are reading this report in prison..what goes around comes around.
Seriously avoid these sleazy, and EXTREMELY IGNORANT people (who works for scum like this???).
This complaint is directed to Brian, who claims to be the "customer service champion" for this company.
Brian,
You are ripping people off using your deceptive tactics in luring inncoent consumers who spent a huge amount of monies on their phones and looked to YOU! to try to make the best out of selling thier phones to YOU!
By the written accounts of consumers telling the same story where you offer a great deal if they sell their phones to you but when they get a check in the mail, it's an amount no where that comes close to the price you quoted.
I too, was a victim of your tactics and I am publicly stating that my phone was in excellent condition and not even one mark with all the accesories and all I recieved was a check totaling, $20! Your fun and ripping off inncocent people ended with me!
Do not do business with ecyclebest. They told me they would give me $180 for my old iPhone 4S and my laptop. Well that turned out to be a lie, they ended up sending me a whole $11. I am livid and have asked for me devices back and have not gotten a response. They are crooks that tell you they will give you a large amount of money then send you a much lower amount that they had promised, then they cutt off contact. They are supposed to send you an email telling you how much they are really going to pay you once they recieve your device. No, they lied about that too. THey did not send me an email they just sent me $11 and said goodbye. If they did send me the email i would have said no to $11 and requested my equipment back and sold it elsewhere. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE THEY ARE CROOKS AND LIARS!!!

Do not be fooled by ecyclebest's deception. It's a total scam. Bait and switch
They sent me $9 after quoting me something much higher for my iPhone - which is in excellent condition
Customer services takes forever to reach anyone. And when you do, they are argumentative
I was on hold for 20 minutes to reach the first person - who then put me on hold for another 15 minutes only to be disconnected.
I have sent three messages via their customer support email / portal and have not recieved any communications.
As I type this, I"ve been on hold for 15 minutes and the call was just dropped.

Good Luck!!!!!!
