Earnhardt Hyundai North Scottsdale Reviews

  • Mar 20, 2015

Earnhardt Scottsdale Hyundai is running a Bait & Switch scam on their website by advertising “We Want Your Trade-in!!! Find the Value of your Trade-in with our Free Valuation Tool. Click Here”. “Get the Bluebook Trade-in Value”. Once you fill in your vehicle information an email is sent to you titled "Trade-in Value Report". The report provides a range that you can expect to receive when trading-in your vehicle.

Not only does this advertising lead one to believe they will honor the Bluebook values provided, but the Earnhardt sales people are also stating, in email, that they are providing “full Bluebook for trades”.

However, once you arrive at the dealership they will look at the car, drive it, and run a fake Kelly Bluebook report which shows a range much, much lower than the report you received from their website. They will tell you your car is in much worse condition that it really is, and they will state that they take “other factors” into account when evaluating a car. Yet they won’t tell you what those factors are. Then when we called them out on their scam they told us to leave.

Another dealer offered us $2,200 more for the car that same day, and that was at the low end of the KBB range for trade-in value. Earnhardt was at least $3,800 below the full trade-in value. So much for Earnhardt honoring their word to provide “full Bluebook for trades”.

This type of scam, known as the “bait & switch” was highlighted in a Forbes Magazine article as the top of the “10 Outrageous New-Car Scams to Avoid”.

“1. Bait And Switch – This is the classic sleight of hand in which the promise of something – whether it’s a dollar-off coupon, a low advertised price or interest rate, promised trade-in value or what seems to be a bona fide price quote from a web site – is used to lure a shopper into a dealer’s showroom.”

This type of business practice is unethical and unlawful in many areas. If this happened to you then please report it to this site, the BBB, News stations, Hyundai/Ford/GM/etc, and write reviews so that others don’t have to go through this run around, or get taken by this scam.
