If you enter the competition this year DO NOT RESERVE YOUR TABLE TO THE EVENT UNTIL after the final nominations.
Here's why... We are a young business, getting awards are important but not essential. We entered two cat which cost us £135.00 per entry for the end of July.
We received confirmation in the first weeks in August that we had been nominated
By the second week we had received an exciting email advising us to hurry and reserve our seats for the awards.
We reserved our seats and two other parties who where also excited asked us to reserve seats for them because they wanted to support us. Within two day an invoice was raised by Biz Media @£225 per person.
In the first week in September we received notification that we were not a finalist. Two of our couples pulled out (one because a partner had died) so we wrote to Biz media to confirm tha we would not require 6 seats but only two. Initially this was acknowledged and then the emails kept coming asking for the full fee and that the invoice was 'non cancellble"
We argued that we could not eat 6 meals and that there was enough time for the tickets to be sold on. But instead we got threats, a County court chasing the money.
So in the end we received no tickets, no confirmation of our table at the event and just a very large bill.
So don't book don't even hint at reserving your table at the event because the con is to get you excited about the pre nonminations so that you are lured into a false sence of security,
Bizmedia is a business, they make money of a competition. And we are paying the price.
There sponsors should be aware of this.
