This is a review of a general contractor for home construction, in case any prospective customers are checking out the company.
The owners and staff are nice and professional, office is spiffy, they all appear to know what they are doing. They are above median in regard to cost.
The owners and staff have NO clue what is happening at the site. They use subs that don't do a good job, and are so surprised to hear that.
Specifically: uneven drywall, splotchy interior paint job, cabinets not assembled properly, floor tile laid in wrong pattern, persistent water in the basement, exterior paint job so thin you could see through it, exterior trim priced at 3x what it should be (we took over and found a different company), sloppy door installation so they don't latch, serious paint and stain splatters, leaky shower, shower floor doesn't slope to drain, built ins not fastened to wall. Worst difficulty was electrical not up to code, not properly grounded, gfci's didn't work, defective smoke detector. The electrician gave go ahead for service to be brought onto site, cost us extra because he wasn't actually ready to hook up.
The owners were nice about trying to fix all this but clearly had NO intention of spending another penny to do it. Unprofessionally blamed everything on a sick employee who had quit. After several months we finally gave up and fixed things with other providers at our own expense.
