The our government will take as much, if not all our retieemrnts to finance all its fraud. The gov. will steal from us everything they can get their grubby little hands on.
I had exactly the same experience. Duvati is completely a scam, and got to be illegal. I am just wondering whether there is a law enforcement agency to report them to. They should be shut down and its operators be punished.
I too was taken advantage of with the "free" offer. Then when I was traveling out of the country, I found on returning to US that I was charged $95. After contesting the hefty charge on my account, my email was answered in a punitive manner, saying that the Terms and Conditions clearly stated that I would have had to return the glasses in 14 days. I was not aware of any such agreement. I am very angry!
While shopping online a window appeared with an offer of a free gift if I completed a survey. Although skeptical, I went ahead and did the survey and was the rewarded with a choice of three items from which to choose. I selected the pair of sunglasses as my "free" gift. The next window required my credit card to pay the shipping charge of $5.99. I don't recall any other "Terms and Conditions" which may have appeared as a check box, if there was one I didn't pay much attention since it was a "free" gift for completing the survey. A few days later I received the sunglasses. All was good until two weeks later when I was charged $95 for the "free" sunglasses. I contacted Duvati Wear and was told that the terms and conditions clearly stated I would be billed the $95 and could not return the glasses. So once again, I have been scammed either by Duvati or by a third party using the fake suvery scam to solicit business for Duvati.
In late May, 2014, I purchased 3 new cell phones online. Immediately after the sale, I received an email from Duvati Shades, possibly through Groupon. It seemed to be a thank you which I assumed was for the phones.
Only one sunglass per household was offerred. All that was required was a fee of $5.99 for shipping and handling. It took about 10 days to receive the sunglasses and they were nothing special. Two weeks later, I see an unauthorized charge on my bank account for $95.00. I immediately called the phone number on my PayPal account and reached a third party company. I questioned the charge and was told I authorized it and EVERY month, another pair of sunglasses would be sent to me at that price.
He said he couldn't do anything about it but did cancel the additional sunglasses. Why would anyone want a new pair of sunglasses every month. It appears they try to take advantage of consumers and collect as much money as they can before the consumer is aware. Unbelievable business practices.
They advertise Satisfaction Guaranteed but that's really a joke if you can read the fine print. I contacted the company in order to return the sunglasses which I have no need for as I had bought a pair of Oakleys earlier in the month.
