How can what should have been a simple order go so terribly wrong? After seeing Dutch Glow's TV ad, I decided to call to order for the bonus offer. I placed my order. Then the incessant add-on offers began. I ordered the special cloths, but the add-on list went on for so long that I gave up and hung up, thinking the incomplete order wouldn't go through.
I was surprised to receive the order today and to discover that my order of two bottles had multiplied into 9 bottles of Dutch Glow Wood Milk, at a whopping $85.45 with shipping. I don't have enough wood in my house to warrant 9 bottles! Each separate erroneous order included separate shipping and processing of $5.95 and $7.95, coming to a total of $51.60! No one ever mentioned the cost of shipping. How do you justify shipping costs that are more than the actual product?! And everything came in one box!
I immediately called customer service to explain the situation and get clarification. I spoke to Lily, who said I could return the box, minus that $51.60 in shipping. When I pointed out that that wasn't acceptable, she said they could give me a $5 discount on the $85.45 total and just keep the product. That, too, is not acceptable. She then offered to forward my complaint to the corporate office for resolution and promised I would hear from them within 5 days.
I've heard good things about this product, but the company should sell it based on its merit rather than mess up the order, fail to admit it, tack on possibly illegal charges, and steal my money for the my aggravation.
My next steps are to contact my credit card company, my state attorney general, and the BBB. I won't settle for anything less than a full refund, including all the extra shipping. If you want Dutch Glow, stay away from the ordering process. Buy it at your local home store!
