Dec 31, 2012 I underwent a 6 1/2 hour surgery; the doctor did not leave precise notes for nursing staff. Had to call doctor three times to get him to talk to nurses at North Central Baptist Hospital. The day I was discharged, the bandages were not changed - after I had to clean an accident on way to bathroom; shower on my own. I had an infection. Lewis cut open site, packed, and my husband and I had to pack for 6 wks. A hernia formed which, in his notes, he wrote he suspected but did not do any tests. He told me he did the surgery because I wanted him to; thought it would help with back pain from MVA....the nightmare since has been so awful, I am homebound. He either has short term memory loss or a chronic liar. Has moved to third office. Offered to do a colonoscopy, however, I wouldn't trust anyone who said he failed; said I could have gone without the surgery and he did it because I asked him to??????? This led to another surgery because of the hernia; now I am covered in mesh in abdominal wall which led to a report I made earlier - hoping the surgeon, Dr Sarr couldn't possibly be responsible for the awul pain as my intestines are covered in mesh.
No excuse for doing a surgery for back pain or because a patient requested it. Two years of searching why I've had such awful pain; I may have found part of the answer through searching your site, but the fact remains that the infection could have been stopped and no colorectal surgeon should operate because of backpain or because an ignorant person asks for it because he said it could be an emergency and could help with back pain.
The taxpayers have paid an incredible amount of money for negligence. I will also report the hospital.
