Beware of dealing with Don Baskin Trucks! Talk to them about a roll off truck and they agreed to hold it so I could drive the 600 miles to see it, which they did, truck seemed fine and I agreed to their price and got a bill of sale and copy of the title and Said I would have my bank send a cashiers check to them. I meet them on Monday morning drove 600 miles home finished the loan and had the check at their place on Friday morning in which they called and sold it from under me! Their word don't mean anything!!!! They didn't even try to call me before as his e-mail says GOD BLESS unless someone has more money!! From other reviews on other sites I guess I'm lucky not to deal with them!!!
Beware! Unless you live close to Covington TN. It's probably not worth your time looking at a vehicle from Baskin Truck Sales! They will not be honset with you about the condition of the vehicle you are looking at and will let you waste your time and money going to look at it.
I found a truck there I was interested in and the description said ""runs good, Works good"". I sent a few e-mails to get some basic information then decided to start calling. I made several phone calls about the truck because I wanted to make sure it was worth the trip to go look at it and buy it.
I asked if it was DOT inspected and was told they were not allowed to have vehicles inspected but I could pay somebody to come by and inspect it if I wanted to. I asked it would pass an inspection and I was told it should. I asked if it would be road worthy to drive it home if I bought it and was told yes definately. I explained that it was a long drive for me to come look at it and asked if there was anything I might want to know that was wrong with it before I made the trip. The guy told me ""It'S and older truck so there's some slack here and there but everything works and does what it's supposed to do"".
So I made the 6 hour drive up there with my brother expecting to buy it and drive it home. The first thing we noticed after looking at it for about 1 minute was a broken leaf spring. Then they pulled it out and we started making sure everything worked. Well 1 of the outriggers didn't work. The main lift cylinder would not hold the boom up. From 15 feet in the air it would drop to the ground in abou 5 seconds if you let off the handle that raises it. Then we noticed working the hydraulics caused several leaks. The rotate bearing was falling out. None of the instruments on the dash worked. No speedometer, no air pressure gague, nothing. Even the air brake button was broke off but they had a pair of pliers there to pull it out with.
Needless to say I didn't waste my money on that truck but I did waste an entire day and gas driving up there to see a piece of junk that could have been avoided if they cared just a little and would have been just a little bit honest when I called them and asked the questions. I will never go back there ever again!
Looked at pictures of a truck and trailer. Called and ask many questions about both. They assured me everything was road worthy & ready to go to work today. I sent payment for both so they wouldn't be sold before I could get there to pick them up. That was a huge mistake!!! Once I made the 10 hour drive to get the truck and trailer it took about 30 seconds to realize everything they told me was a lie. Nothing was as it was described to me. There were oil leaks everywhere on the motor, there were multipul wheel seals leaking on the truck and trailer, I could heat air leaks all over, none of the brakes were adjusted properly, several tires had bald spots or wire showing, the trailer has cracks in the metal all over it. When I refused to take the equipment they refused to refund my money. I said thats fine my attorney will contact you. They said no problem please read the sign hanging on the door as you leave. The sign states they will charge storage every day that the equiptment remains on their property. Please don't send them any money without going to look first!!!!
