Please DO NOT board your dog at DOG WORLD. My 4 year old Boston terrier spent 8 nights there over the Christmas Holiday. When I picked-up my dog I was never told that he had been sick with diarrhea during his stay. Although I filled out all the paperwork giving permission to take my dog to a vet if he were to become sick, he was never taken to a vet. When I returned home with him he seemed very tired and after a few hours home he had diarrhea. I wasn't sure what to think but told myself I will watch him the rest of the night and if he still has diarrhea by the morning I will take him to the vet.Well, the night went from bad to worse, by 3:00am his diarrhea was more blood then diarrhea and he was vomiting.
His gums were also turning white and he was shaking uncontrollably. I immediately called a 24 hour vet hospital and was told to bring him right in. On arrival they started an IV on him and told me he was extremely dehydrated. The Doctor also looked at the irritation and rash that was by his backside and down the inside of his thighs and near his scrotum. He stated it would have taken at least 72 hour of diarrhea for that kind of rash to show up. So the question is why was my dog not taken to the vet, why was I never told anything was wrong with him when I picked him up.
My poor dog spent 24 hours in the hospital and came home on 4 medication after spending 8 nights at DOG WORLD. I had to pay a hospital bill of 926.00. After speaking with some of the staff at dog world , one staff member admitted that my dog did have some diarrhea and that they were over booked because of the holidays. I then spoke with the owner of DOG World ( David Thomsen ), he was very rude and told me he is not responsible for any bill. He was really horrible to me, the paying customer. I had just spent 532.00 for boarding. He then had the audacity to say Happy New Year and hung up on me. Just know that this situation could happen to anyone that takes there pet / family member there. Please think twice!!!!!!
