Last month, directv took 180 dollars out of my prepaid visa card, with two charges a week apart. 100 for the first and 80 for the second. They simply took it out of my card without permission, no letter of collections or warning, nothing. I NEVER signed up for autopay. The most worst part is they somehow knew EXACTLY how much money i had on the card and took all of it. I had exactly 100 dollars that i put on just ONE DAY before they took it. same thing with the 80.
I forgot to give them the receiver when i cancelled service early and moved at the beginning of November last year (NOTE: i wanted to transfer service to my new place, but they were going to charge a fee of 200 dollars!). So today, i just called them and they will send boxes to return the equipment. They say they will send me a check of 135 dollars (NOT the full 180 they stole) after receiving the equipment back.
So thats why, after i get the check back (If), i will take them to small claims court anyway and sue them for the maximum amount i can.
When I signed up for Directv I was promised a $200 gift card in lieu of NFL package. Later, when following up on my gift card, I was told I wasn't eligible to receive one.
I ended up having to contact the BBB in California to get my gift card. After I received my gift card, I received a call from a customer service rep telling me they would be sending me a second gift card, this was followed up with an email from them.
My second card never arrived and when I followed up again through the BBB, the so called "Office of the President(?)" at Directv said their commitment to me was finished and they would not keep their second promise.
Lied to twice. Once through much personal effort I got satisfaction. The second time not.
I will never renew from this company again nor will I recommend them to anyone.
I don't understand why some ambitious lawyer hasn't filed a class action against these people. This is just one complaint web site. There are thousands of complaints against this company.
Now ATT owns them. Hopefully UVerse doesn't go down the drain.
Less than 90 days after initial instillation my DVR from Direct TV failed. The unit was replaced. Two years after the start of my contract i tried to cancel as DVR has failed again. When i tried to cancel I was told contract starts after every DVR replacement. Thus adding 3 months for which I will have to pay if I want out.
I am here to voice my disgust with Directv concerning unatuhorized payments. First off I am not a customer of theirs, my mother is. She had trouble paying her monthly bill back in September 2013. To keep her service I had stepped in to help her out and spoke to agent. I was told an option for a one time only payment to which I agreed to provide credit card. I gave permission to be charged under the pretense of being a ONE time only transaction. Come today (ten months) later I see on my credit card statement there's a charge pending. Service was halted and equipments were returned but how am I repsponsible to settle debt???Talked to customer rep and spoke to a supervisor. He basically balked at the claim and refused to stop charge or to reverse charge. I am not a customer, my name is not on contract but he couldn't/wouldn't flat out not help and somehow I am being responsible for her debt. Directv is essentially stealing money from me 1) i am not a customer; 2) i was lied to at the time I gave out my cc#; and 3) there never was a written stipulation given to her regarding charges. That's extremely dishonest of them and how the company allows their employees to lie and steal from non customers.

5 cancellation phone calls... all sent through the DTV "mill" before being mysteriously disconnected.
As soon as the hear the word cancel, I was put back in the queue and disconnected.
Then later they claim they never got the cancellation and that now
I have to pay even though I haven't even had a box hooked up!
I suspended my account and I had a negative balance of ~$60. (DTV owed ME money)
several months went by like that, statement says they owe me 60 bucks.
Then I tried to cancel. HOLY COW, wotta nightmare! I made several calls to cancel which were all disconnected after failing to talk me out of it.
Then they send me a statement saying they've taken my $60.00.
Two different supervisors told me 'We're keeping your money and there's nothing you can do about it.
