Directron refused to replace a power supply exhibiting an intermittent failure of the main cooling fan.
After explaining that the cooling fan on this unit was dropping out after several hours of run time, the RMA tech said the PSU was running ok for him and he was sending it back to me after telling me that the Mainboard could be the problem.
I then explained to Directron that the Mainboard cannot be the problem in this case because it only issues a binary ON or OFF state to the PSU, Once in the ON state, the PSU fan is supposed to run constantly and is under thermal speed control from the on board electronics in the PSU itself, not the mainboard. This indicates that the Technician does not understand or care about the Mainboard PSU pinout and the true interaction of the 2 devices. Instead he is making a pronouncement that is not based on fact or proper troubleshooting skills.
With this behavoir the RMA Tech is:
Failing to listen to the customer, who in this case just happens to be an A+ trained computer Tech.
Making false statements about the possible cause of the fan failure that are not technically " correct."
Wasting my time and the return shipping cost to send back a " bad " unit to a customer who is savvy enough to not use it again.
Forcing me to go directly to the MFG. to obtain warranty on a product that they are supposed to support.
Assuming an elitist attitude that they are always right in a case that should have resulted in a quick replacement of the original product. Any sensible service manager would have done so.
I advise you do not buy from this organization due to their lack of professionalism and dishonesty.
