On June 3, 2015, I attempted to use my Direct Express debit card to make a purchase at a Walmart in Monroe, Ga., but purchase was declined. I immediately called direct express because I had a balance of $1563 after all of my debits and withdrawals. I was told someone had made purchases at Macy's and CVS in Reno Nevada. Both charges were still pending when I called and they still released my money. I am located in Ga. and have proof of my where abouts.
I filled out all of the paperwork required and returned it and still haven't received my money, as of now. They overnighted another card in three days and charged me $13.54 and that was charged to my card, as well. This has caused me plenty of hardships.
I was informed by direct express about suspicious1 activity after my card was declined at a merchant...it seems that my card was charged 9 times in less than 2 minutes by international scanners. Charges from $.75 to $151.85 range. I denied all charges. But...they told me I had to wait 5 days for the transaction to go thru before I could dispute and wait another45 to 90 days Tobe reimbursed. That's ridiculous. Why pay the crooks first??? What about me???? Tried Comerica that kept transferring me back to direct express for the same run around. Soooo disgusted. the scammers were Ali Express and Pisces e Services ltd. Along with hanz de fuko could. Hanz de full could was the only one that responded toy info request
I receive my son's ssi benefits on a direct express debit card. Recentlyy whole wallet was stolen & some how the party figured out how to gain my pin number & completely wiped my acct. That paper took 8 business day to get to me, there fore leaving me with only 2 business days to complete & return. I had to barrow 39$ because every penny I had was stolen to send this document 1 mail just to make the mark of the 10 business day so that I could re I've the provisional credit. ( the paper work I was sent stated" if u return the completed fraud question air with in 10 business days you Wlll receive a provisional credit on the 10th business day"). On the 10th day I recieved nothing. I called & called & was told provisional credits were not promised, they can't give everyone a credit but no one person could answer or explain to me why I was clearly told I would in fact receive one if I did my part not my receive if intact that's a lie. Also the dispute will take 45-90 days to be resolved. So doesn't matter if I loose my house in the meantime, kids go hungry. No one is held responsible for sending out wrong info via mail. There customers service is very rude, could care less what you are going threw & will do nothing to help. Its not right & something should be done about this.
In August of last year my husband ss check got stolen and we got in touch with department of treasury and they said it was put on a direct express card and we never ask ss to do that so now no one will replace his check ss said it is nothing they can do and direct express will not do anything it was cashed in ft. I said you know I live in TN. no way did I go to pizzia hut or any place else all in one day several state purchase;s were done on my card over internet and all I recieved from direct express sorry you were scamed? I now have no money for food this month and was told they would send me a new card and papers to file fraud report but now 6 days later still nothing. sad this is a goverment card and its my fault lossing my money I didnt lose my card this was done solely over internet. please help me recover my money.
Direct Express is nothing but a well thought out fraud. Comerica and PNC bank are both involved with this off shoot service, where the only way to communicate with DE is via one toll free number. If you call the bank, they know nothing about it. No clue at all. I was signed up for Direct Express by a phantom.
I have no clue who or how I was signed up for that. I never heard of them, never even heard of this service, yet when I expected my first check to be in my personal checking account, it wasn't there. After calling SS Dept. who told me it was deposited into DE, which I never heard of nor requested or signed up for, they gave me their toll free number and after back and forth, each one telling me to call the other nothing was accomplished.
I had personally checked even before check was due to make sure everything was ok on the SS webiste, and lo and behold, there was no info about my checking account. So, I entered it, got a confirmation email, but when I called SS Dept. back again, they said there was no information there. 5 times, including myself, with a representative, and in the actual office of SS Dept to fix it. Still not fixed. Had to pay to get a card to get the money, however, they don't say how much your are allowed to take out in one transaction.
Nobody on Earth knows that. Apparently it's some kind of a secret. But you get a free transaction ONCE a month. yeeeey! what a gift!!

Tons of money on the backs of unaware and not informed people. Add insult to injury, Fed Reserve uses the money for bailouts. No, not yours and mine. The big guys, you know like Wall St...and the likes of them.
Social Security in a sense has no choice but to cheat, lie, and do all kinds of nasty thing to you, because they're under their thumb.
I really wish this would get in the news to spare many people suffering from this abuse.

I have been a consumer of Direct Express for numerous years. I had terrible experiences on 2 different occassion with no positive outcome. The first call was about a over-draft fee. (An overdraft fee on a pre-paid card) I call and someone picks up and do not respond. I hear talk from representatives of urinating, , why am I urinating so much. what are you wearing to the club tonight, etc. so I hang up call back, repeat the phone tree feasco again. Get to the supervisor who accusing me of not calling. I repeat myself again. She did not apologize for misbehavior , nothing. Today I call because I yet to receive my replacement card. 20 days later. The represenative yelled at me because she said I threw it away. I politely told her please don't assume that, because it is untrue. She yelled and I told her to transfer me to a manager or supervisor. She hung up. I called back, got the supervisor. I Told her about my card replacement. She said I have to wait another 5-10 days for another one. No compassion nothing.
My main complaint is this:How can someone charge you a overdraft fee when if the money is not there it automatically declines. I'm not an accountant but I know that is not supppose to happen. There has been plenty of times I have swiped that particular card and it said "DECLINED" even if I was a penny short. So what's different this month?I called the Social Security Office and they instructed me to call back January to have my funds sent to my bank in February. Has this happened to anyone with Direct Express?

They told me the paperwork would be mailed, after not getting it a week later, then they say they E-mailed it, It wasn't there either. After 3 attempts It came in my email, but filling the paperwork out did no good because they don't care!! The reps and "supervisors" are arrogant, and flat refuse to help in any way shape or form.
I have been lied to and decieved. If you are on SSI and have no bank account, this card Is your bank account, and they don't care if youre money is stolen. We know how it work's with normal credit cards, NOT this card. So, be forwarned, if you have this card and someone charges it without your knowledge, you can kiss your money goodbye!! Get a bank account and get your money on direct deposit to the bank, because you cannot trust Direct Express. If you are working you might be able to absorb this money, on SSI you cannot, and this month we wont eat too much.

I recently was a victim of fraud on the 3rd I received my check as normal and paid 2 bills and bought a chain off ebay, then on the 8th 1100 dollars was taken off my card in Florida mind you I'm in Utah all my funds was drained and that was all my income I had. I contacted direct express as soon as I noticed my card was not going through on my water bill which I thought had money on it so I called and said I had 0$ . I then called direct express asked what happened to my money they said it was taken off in Florida , me personally would think that the government would notice that if spent in one state then jumped few States away then would send up some sort of flag but nope all was taken direct express told me I didn't need to fill out a police report but after talking to ssi they told me I need to . The lady I talked to at direct express was nice the 2nd team so they sent out forms stating I need to return them in 10 days time I would be refunded what j was lost so 4 days to get it filled out collected all my forms needed and sent back next day 2 day express with tracking # .
I called Tuesday and the lady told me they didn't receive it , I explained to her I know better because I tracked it and was delivered on Friday within the 10 day period she told me well it was not processed yet , do theses people realize that some people only have ssi as an income and they depend on it to pay bills and medical needs she told me I would have to wait 45 to 90 days . I personally think If this card company has got the contract to have the disability money put in there card they should have some kind of insurance on fraud cases like the banks do not o well wait till your living in cardboard box with your kids. ... I also explained to them that my password and security questions was changed in there system with out my knowledge and they was lost to what I was saying so they put in the order to have there Web team call me to reset it well when they called tried explaining to them they had no clue and asked for my card that was stolen # I told them I have not received my new card and that my account was broken into they told me call back when I get my new card. ..

They need to have some kinda protection against credit card fraud I mean after doing little research from my understanding the direct express cards get hacked into almost 20 thousand people a month and ssi almost 60 thousand think someone would try to put a system in place to prevent this from happening to the disabled people we are victims and that's only income we have I'm waiting to see if I get my 1100 dollars back but not holding my breath cuz seems to me this card company could care less I will be writing my state attorney and who Ever I need to get people's attention on this matter I can't afford my meds needed and the state is no help on insurance wise they want 500$ for insurance and I'm disabled and won't get medicare for another 8 mths which I think is not right ... Will update if any progress on my status but think direct express needs to up there security and Web services cuz someone needs to help protect our funds
US direct express made error along with ssi on my address, i had went to ssi to order a separate direct express card for another person that i was their payee representative of. Due to the mix up with address, the new card was sent to an old address. The current card I held was stolen n reported stolen along with my ID. Direct express decided to just ignore that the other card was stolen n put the ssi monies of another recepent onto the stolen card of a different receipent. I disputed and they denied my claim, so I appealed it with new information including a police report. They still denied the claim. Now they say its not their problem, and that I am to contact social security. Social security says its us direct express who needs to deal with it. So my recepient has lost over $700 and no one will stand up and make this right. This is not fair and certainly not legal.
I recently lost my card and call to get a replacement card I got through one of the dirrect express customer service reprentative, I told her what has happened she gave me gave me two option and a very disturbing rundown on how things work when bad things happen to unfortunate citizens who have no other choice but to relly on their services or grips one may say.
She told me that
1) you will get a replacement card in the mail within 5 to ten calender days not working days calender days.
2) or you can pay $13.99 for a express delivery by UPS and recieve it in two days.
3) If you lost your card again and need a replacement you will be charged $4.00 dollars for a new card
Me like a broke dumb ass oppted for option #1 which I'm sure many if not all of the people who are in the same situation that I'm in will do the same.
Five days has pass no card six days no card on the seventh day still no card I decided to call they told me to wait a few more days because it hasn't been ten days. I waited even though my rent was due on eighth day I struggle to have an eye to eye conversation with my money hungry landlord.
Still I push through waited the tenth day finally arrive still no trace of anyhting promising just bills bills bills. I called them back only to have them tell me if I want I can wait and wait they are not sure when it'll come now nor do they care but what they do care about is scamming you for $4.00 dollars or $13.99 for the deliverance of the second replacement. I asked them if they how is the card being issued and by whom , where is it sent out from and by whom, is there electronic signature or tracking record keeping and how is this done to ensure that a card was really sent out.
They keep telling me sir do you want a new card or not that is the only thing I can do and they will make me pay for it. They said it was not their fault the card was lost so I ask them then who fault was it it sure as hell ain't mine. they could care less they just want their scamming routine to go through none of my question was being answered no information was given like a worker ID # or a federal ID # there is only a supervisor with the same thug like mentallity thank God I suffered from anxiety and not stupidity there should be a class action lawsuit filed against this protected organized crime/scam based entity. there is nothing we can do but to fall victims to their tyrrany way of preying on the poor and disabled. Many of whom fight and die for this country just to have their suffering falls on deaf ear. Who can help us gain justice and bring back what is the American way of life.
I have my benefits going to this direct express card from social security. My identity was stolen by my son ( I wasn't aware of this until yesterday ) but I needed a new card and asked that before clearing card for use if they would make the person answer my security questions they said they would but when my card arrived it was stolen out of my mail box and the person was able to up the card with no problem and clear ALL the funds from my account then on this fine month as I cleaned off the card the atm decided it wanted 200 and took it I never saw and when I called direct express they won't even put that out there with out me sending them copies of my IDs and worse I'm unable to because I'm home bound. GO FIGURE!!!!!
When I tried to use my Direct Express card today, it was declined. I called the customer service number on the back of the card, entered my card number, and was told my card had been deactivated. The message said to enter my SS# for additional information. When I did this I was told that the new card THAT I HAD REQUESTED today had been issued and that I would receive it within 5 to 10 business days. It also said that my funds on the deactivated card would be transferred to the new card. BUT I was disturbed by this because I had not requested a new card. UNFORTUNATELY, there is no way to get through to a human being at Direct Express unless you have an active card number. They have no email address listed on the site. The only address listed is for regular mail. I don't know how to get a message to them that I did not request a card change. I don't know where or who this new card is going to, when or if I will be able to access my money.

My identity was stolen by my son ( I wasn't aware of this until yesterday ) but I needed a new card and asked that before clearing card for use if they would make the person answer my security questions they said they would but when my card arrived it was stolen out of my mail box and the person was able to up the card with no problem and clear ALL the funds from my account then on this fine month as I cleaned off the card the atm decided it wanted 200 and took it I never saw and when I called direct express they won't even put that out there with out me sending them copies of my IDs and worse I'm unable to because I'm home bound. GO FIGURE!!!!!
When I tried to use my Direct Express card today, it was declined. I called the customer service number on the back of the card, entered my card number, and was told my card had been deactivated. The message said to enter my SS# for additional information. When I did this I was told that the new card THAT I HAD REQUESTED today had been issued and that I would receive it within 5 to 10 business days. It also said that my funds on the deactivated card would be transferred to the new card. BUT I was disturbed by this because I had not requested a new card. UNFORTUNATELY, there is no way to get through to a human being at Direct Express unless you have an active card number. They have no email address listed on the site. The only address listed is for regular mail. I don't know how to get a message to them that I did not request a card change. I don't know where or who this new card is going to, when or if I will be able to access my money.
