On 25 June 2014 my childhood friend of 50+ years and NuSkin distributor Dianne Munyon Jacobs of The Villages, Florida, called me and introduced me to a product, the NuSkin Galvanic body spa. She was so excited about this product claiming that it actually worked. I’m on a fixed income, widow’s pension, as my husband had died just the year before. The product with taxes and S/H was $427.50, a steep price. I told her I usually do research before purchasing a product that pricey and unknown to me, especially now on a fixed income. She was very insistent and so confident that it worked that she assured me, if it didn’t work for me she would buy back the unit from me, further assuring me, I had nothing to lose. Since we were childhood friends, I told her I would forego the research and purchase it solely based on the trust of our relationship. Well, to make a long story short as the saying goes, the product did not work, it produced no effect and after 3 months of daily use, I let her know it had been ineffective. Her response was for me to continue using it and when she came to see me in November, she would give me hers to use to see if that made a difference. She didn’t make it out to see me in November because she started the process of purchasing a new home, letting me know that she couldn’t afford to buy back the unit now as a result. And by that time it was too late to request a refund from the company; a transaction that would probably have resulted in a reduction/adjustment in her pay/commissions.
After her house was finalized and she was settled in she called me about my opinion of her purchasing about $1000.00+ worth of personal coaching to learn meditation. I told her she could probably find meditation offered locally, maybe even offered at the Villages since it was for seniors, or in her area for less or even free. Obviously her money situation seemed less restricted if she was considering spending that much on coaching, so I mentioned again her offer/assurance to buy back the NuSkin unit. She became upset and told me she couldn’t afford to buy it back at that point either.
Then a few days ago an email came to me regarding an upgrade of her Facebook status. I looked at it and found she seemed to be doing better financially as she was describing all the new products and services she had been purchasing recently. Thinking that she had forgotten about the buy back of the NuSkin unit, I sent her off a PRIVATE message which read;
“With all these new pieces of equipment you're purchasing, how about buying back this body spa you said you would?”
Her response to my question:
“Wow.. Such contempt.. Where did all this anger come from? As I told u I'm working 2 days a month that doesn't even cover my bills. We've talked about this before. I am hurt by ur remark. Since my generous offer while I was working has produced feelings in you that I owe you an explanation of how I spend my money, I am rescinding my offer and suggest you sell your spa on eBay. I'm sorry you cannot be happy for my progress and am saddened by your message.”
I was shocked at her response, so way out there. What was even more interesting is that after I sent her my reply, she then left me a message on my phone to let me know she deleted that reply without even reading it.
I had not known Dianne to be this cut throat, devious, dishonest, self-centered, lacking in integrity, avoidant, and unwilling to be responsible for the effects of her own behavior. I can only chalk it up to the NuSkin mindset. If she can rip off a childhood friend of 50+ years this easily without conscience or remorse, after being involved with this company such a short time, she could do it to strangers even easier. Be forewarned: in my opinion, based on my experience with my lifelong friend, Dianne Munyon Jacobs is no longer a trustworthy individual.
