The most important piece of information you can walk into the dealership with is the invoice price. You can find it from the manufacturers. You should also know the blue book valuation according to every category. This way, you would approximate what the dealer paid for the car, and how much are they expecting to get for it. Once you are at the dealership, find the MSRP. This is found on the sticker normally on the window of the car. Make sure that the dealership makes enough money at the MSRP.
I got a letter from Sylvi at McDavid Nissan saying I was approved for a vehichle with no money down. Called the number, "Thank you for calling McDavid Nissan"... I asked for Sylvia but "Theresa" said she was on,another call and she would help me. I gave her my name, told her I received a letter, and also Sylvia, left me a voice, mail. She said she had my file. Said I was approved for up to $24K with zero down, garunteed. Told me I had 72 hrs to come in,or I would have to reapply. Told, her I would, come in,the next day. Asked if I could view inventory online, and she said yes but don't reapply because you were already approved and we don't want them to run, your credit again. I called her back and said I saw a vehichle for 10K and how much would payments be. She said she could stretch then out to make it a comfortable payment for me. I said- about 250-300? She said, yes that could definetly be done since the car was only 10k. Asked her again- no money down? She,said, yes ma'am.
Next day- I am on my way and I call to let them know. Theresa tells me I will be seeing Sylvia. I ask her again- I don't need to bring my,checkbook,or lay out any money today? She said no. SHE SAID "I see no reason, why you won't drive off with your car today". Of course I was so excited. Get there, no Sylvia, no Theresa. Three different lying saleman and a horrible manager telling me I can only get a car,wih no money down if its a 6,500 vehicle- which they have none. For the one I picked- 500 down and payments almost 500 per month. For,the 10k car! I asked repeatedly about the approval promise up to 24k and got so,many bs answers, about their, finance banks.... They apparently had no idea who Sylvia,or Theresa are, but one, said they work at,a bank. So dissapointing, such bullshit, and how awful to LIE to people. I drove almost an hour!! Oh, and I called during my two hour waiting room experience and asked for Theresa or Sylvia- to the dealerships listed number, and,was told Theresa was with a,client and,Sylvia was showing cars!!!! Not ONE person got a car and I was there from 4:45-7:20!! Just people walking out pissed off. Horrible business practice.
