I called the company and Mrs. Dattile set up the appoinment for her husband Keith to come to my condo. I told her I wanted the same Moen replacement tub faucet with the shower diverter and to have the drain unclogged in the tub that was draining slow.
When Mr. Keith Dattile arrived and spoke to my wife and told her the job was $565.00 she called me. I was under the impression the job was more complicated than what I thought. The faucet was replaced that cost at "Home Depot" $29.00 and Keith snaked the drain and he was in and out in less then 40 minutes. At this rate this plumber is earning $1,000.00 per hour!
My wife was taken advantage of by Keith who did not supply an itemized invoice that was requested several times fromboth Keith via voice mail and his wife twice. I was told she will inform Keith of my request and he will call me first thing in the morning. Its now 5:00 PM and I am still waiting for his call. I see this company is already on the (Rip Off Report.)
I wonder what a Plumber union member earns at Manhatten, NYC per hour! My wife paid by Visa and since then we disputed the charge and was given a temporary credit at $281.00.
During the month of December, 2014, an employee of Datille and Sons plumbing came to my residence to repair a leak from under my sink. I should have asked about a general price for the service but it was a small leak and they waived the $45 trip fee so I figured it would not be that expensive.
The plumber looked at the leak and said it would be $290.00 To repair it. I thought it was high but I had to have it repairedand I did not want to go through the process of getting another plumber so I agreed to have him repair it. He then said he would have to replace the drink strainer as that was the source of the leak and replace the Ptrap. So, it was $290.00 for the job and he said the sink strainer was an additional $125.
i felt I had no choice at that point. This was my fault, to agree to such an exhorbitant price but he was there and I needed it done. The Ptrap costs, maybe $25, at Home Depot and the replaced connection pipe maybe $5. He also "unclogged" the pipe for our the dishwasher - additional $25. The kicker is that he was done in 20 minutes. There was supposedly no trip charge or other added expenses so the final price was $440.00. He added tax on the entire amount, that I later realized should not have been done, so the final price was $475.00 I had to mention to him there was a $50 discount from their website.
You decide for yourself but I believed this charge to be exorbitant. At least whoever is considering using them will have some idea of what to expect.
I used this company to clean my main sewer, they confirmed the charges was going to by 375 before they started working, when I got me credit card bill, they actually charged 425. The company insisted that 425 is the cost of the work, I sent a copy of my approval to charge 375, hoping to get the difference back.
