Ben Jecmen who is the owner of D&J Machine has knowingly been taking money from people for goods and services and then not delivering. That is straight up stealing! Why isn't he in jail? He sold me a crate engine that had to be completely rebuilt because it was put together so poorly with cheap parts and even wrong parts. Please understand this entire list was before the engine had any miles on it. It's not like this engine was being used and pushed hard, this is all brand new and discovered on start up. The cylinders we different sizes due to not being properly machined, the crank had the wrong bearings and wasn't positioned properly, intake had square ports but matched with oval port heads, hardware bolts were used on engine, flat cam, bad lifters, bent pushrods, bad alternator, bad distributor, wrong spring for cam, and that's just what I can think of off the top of my head. Ben bragged to me once that he had caller I.D. and wouldn't take calls from certain customers, but I never thought that would be me one day. I filed a complaint with BBB, and Attorney General and he made up so many lies when talking to them, until I provided the proof. What I didn't know was while this was going on with me, he was taking money from others to build their engine, but never built it, refunded them, quit taking their calls, and lied to them. He even told one person he shipped their engine when it was never built. He then closed his business in the middle of the night. He screwed me out of $7,000 and many other people as well. He belongs locked up for what he has done. All you have to do is Google Tuff Dawg Engines and start reading. A lot is on City Search as well. http://www.citysearch.com/profile/1643630/phoenix_az/d_j_machine_engine_parts.html
I ordered a new 351W Ford engine from Tuff dawg engines located on 518 East Dunlap Avenue Phoenix, AZ
85020, Phone: (602) 395-0800 website: www.Tuffdawgengines.comI talked to Ben who is the owner on a price for a long block ready for me to finish the assembly process.
I shipped them my 2 alunm cylinder heads along with my serpentine belt timing chain cover which were to be installed.
I had paid Tuff Dawg Engines a deposit of $1800.00
Got an email stating that Tuff Dawg Engines had gone out off business and we should contact our credit card company for a refund.
Still waiting (18Nov2014) for any action from credit card company or Az legal offices?
I purchased an engine from Benjamin E Jecman D & J Machine and Performance Engines in August 2014. I paid for the engine up front. Benjamin said the engine would be built and delivered in 12 weeks. At the beginning Ben was quite helpful and answered all of my questions. The company seemed legitamate.
After the 12 weeks was up there was no engine and my money was gone. I tried to contact this business to enquire the whereabouts of my purchased engine. Ben failed to respond to any of my emails. I tried to call the company and the phone line was either busy for days on end or they would just fail to pick up. I have not been able to contact the company ever since. My bank has confirmed the money was deposited into Benjamin E Jecmans account and has been withdrawn by him.
I have since read several internet reviews of this company and can now see there are many people who have had the same thing happen. D & J Machine and Performance Engines / Tuff Dawg are a front for a person who steals money. They are running an Internet Scam and commit Fraud. Do not under any circumstances do any business with this company.
On July 14th 2014 purchased an engine over the phone with a gentlemen who's name was Ben. He said motor needed to be paid in full before build could start. Paid in full with credit card and after some more conversation the conversation eneded.
On Sept 7th i spoke with Ben again asked when delivery would take place he said next week. I asked him to delay that to the first week in oct because i would not be home for the delivery he agreed. Oct 1 started calling no answer kept calling same result now when i call all i get is a busy signal.
Sent emails no replys, now i read on the net that there are several more people such as myself that have been frauded out of money for something that probably was never being built to begin with. So i contacted bank trying tht route also going to press charged with whoevever will take them from me.
I read one report where the place is closed up and all machinery has been removed living so far away makes it tought to do this but i will not give up
I ordered an engine from Tuff Dawg Engines on March26, 2014. I paid with my credit card, which was what the owner, Ben, required.I was told that it would take about 12 weeks to build the engine. When I had not heard anything by June, I contacted the company. I was told that the engine would be shipped in about 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, I again tried to contact Ben. He would not answer the phone or respond to my emails. I finally contacted him by using a friends phone. Again I was told that he was about ready to ship the engine. He said that he had it finished and he was running it with paper under it to make sure there were no leaks. Again no contact from him for a week. We have friends who live in Phoenix and they visited the shop. They were, on one of their visits, shown a crate with an engine in it that had my name on it. On their next visit, they were told that the engine had been shipped but that he couldn't find the shipping information. We got the name of the shipping company. He had NOT shipped an engine to us. We then tried to get our money back through our credit card company. Ben gave them the name and phone number of his credit card servicing company. When they were contacted, we were told that they do not deal with him any more because he caused too many problems. His shop is now CLOSED. DO not buy an engine from him or you will lose your money. He is a scam and a thief.
Hi all, I was considering sending some pictures of my car that I have finally finished a ground up restoration on and was going to send some pics of the finished car.... I'm really sorry to learn that it seems there might have been a change in ownership because I'm reading that people have dealt with am man named Ben, but all my dealing were with Daryl.... Can anyone confirm this?
I honestly had no issues with my engine. Since I am in Australia the only issue I had was when the engine arrived into the county, was with Quartering (Customs) due to some bark that was left on the wooden crate the engine was shipped in.
I would just like to find out if there was a change in ownership with Tuffdawg Engines in the past few years. My engine was built in 2009, but due to the build of the car never was started until 2013. It fired up straight away with no issues, when the car was nearly complete It went on the dyno to be run in and tuned properly. It pulled 320hp and just over 600 torques at the back wheels......
I hope that everyone affected gets what they are owed and money refunded, anyway best of luck everyone and any information about the closure or change of ownership of the shop would be appreciated.
