I was been mislead to purchase a sofa-bed with so-called "free shipping"- "basic home delivery". I live in a building so Basic Home Delivery means (for them) to drop off the sofa in the reciving area- the lobby/ outside! yes, a sofa in the lobby and I will find a way somehow to get it upstairs, as if we are talking about a book here...

When their terrible, trashy third company delivery company tried to make an attempt to deliver, I was told that to take it upstair in my building (in the elevator) will coast me additional $400! This is not only rude but such a scam! It's pure stealing!

Because I "refused" delivery, I was told that my money will be refunded back for the undelivered item, BUT a re-stocking fee of $137.50 and a Return Shipping fee of $143.52 will be deducted! I can't express my anger and disgust! do yourself a favor and buy somewhere else. Stay away!

Short story: I bought a couch, chair and ottoman. 3 months, 9 emails, 35 phone calls, 2 trips home on lunch break, interest paid on my credit card, sold merchandise that doesn’t exist, and in the end had to go buy couches elsewhere. The company is still selling the furniture set that doesn’t exist and now knowingly shipping people the wrong/cheaper product.

Long story:

This was my original review “I ordered a sofa, armchair and ottoman over a month ago. I have called weekly to follow up on my order as it was marked shipped and my credit card was charged. My order still has not been shipped. The first time I called the customer service representative said they would email the manufacturer and email me when they heard from them. A week later I called again since I never received an email and that customer service agent told me that the previous one sent the email to themselves on accident and it never was sent to the manufacturer. That person then said my items should ship within the week and gave me a tracking number, they never shipped. I was informed on my last call that my items are on backorder and they have no idea when it's going to come in. They called the manufacturer and said that they were told it may come in next week or the week after but there may be orders ahead of mine so it could not be fulfilled at that time. I asked why my card was charged instead of placing the money on a hold and they told me because it was marked shipped that they processed the order, even though the items haven't shipped. So now I'm paying interest on a purchase that may or may not show up ever, I don't know because no one there can give me an answer.”

Following this review I was contacted by a mediation specialist named Travis. He was very pleasant on the phone and appeared to be concerned about my issues. After several phone calls and emails my couches were eventually delivered, more than two months after I ordered them. I was told that they had been stuck in a shipping crate and that they have had issues with the manufacturer (Abbyson Living) before.

So the shipping company called and stated they were at my house, without any previous contact, and I had to run home on my lunch break to get them or who knows when they would have been delivered again. The items were delivered and so I called Travis to tell him that. He asked if they were fine, I stated at the time that they seemed to be. He was offering me an additional 10% discount for the hassle, I had already received 10% off for all my trouble ($528.28 total). He then brought up my review and sent me a link to resolve my complaint against the company and stayed on the line until I updated it.

That was my mistake as I was overly excited to receive the furniture I had waited months for. In actuality the products I received were a different model than what I ordered and measured inches smaller than the sofa listed on Cymax’s website making them extremely uncomfortable, though they looked almost identical.

This set off another giant ordeal trying to return the couches and be reimbursed. Many more phone calls later I was given a refund for the couches but again had to come home on my lunch break to have the couches picked up as they wouldn’t accommodate my work hours (no afternoon or weekend pickups). I asked how the company was going to remediate the situation since they charged my credit card, thereby costing me interest, months before the couches were actually shipping. They told me there was nothing they could do. I also brought up that I had to take time off work and use all of my packing supplies to repack the couches as they wouldn’t return them unless they were in the original packaging. Again I was told the best they could do was give me 10% off a future purchase. So after all this, I am out money and time and still had to go couch shopping again and order another set elsewhere.

I also informed them that they are still selling the items I bought which don’t actually exist. The company no longer makes the product but rather a smaller version of the same thing. As of the time of this review Cymax is still selling the non-existent items and are now knowingly shipping the wrong/cheaper items to customers. Buyer Beware!!!

Cymax & Arash Fasihi is a drop ship company that delivers substandard damaged goods. Read what others have experienced on this website and then vist ConsumerAffairs.com for yet more experiences. My nightmare has been going on since Dec 2013. I will dispute this transaction with my credit card as the only option remaining to get my funds returned.
