My wife and I thoroughly researched this company before purchasing a home from them. They had great reviews and we loved the layout of the home we were considering. The 2 and 10 month warranty sounded great! We spoke to some of the neighbors about the area, the company, and the homes that they had purchased and everything sounded perfect! Everything seemed like it was going to be perfect. Little did we know that the struggling housing market had caused the Al Pillon/Crown to start churning out houses irrespective of quality. It is not so much that the quality of the materials are terrible, as much as it is that the "professionals" they used to install it are either completely incompetent, or simply lazy. When we submitted a warranty request that the heater wan't working, Crown sent about a technician who told that our heater not keeping the home warm in the winter was normal. The technician didn't even bother looking at the unit (T&M Heating And Air- McDonough, GA). The plumber was insistent that it was normal to have a hose bib that you can't hold as you turn. The flooring guy has restretched the carpet 4 times telling us that it is ok to have the carpet actively fray in high traffic areas and that a stain on the hardwood since we bought the home away is just something we'd have to live with. When my neighbor's yard kept flooding, Ultimate Landscaping (Columbus, GA) decided to dig a trench from my neighbor's fence, toward the road, into my yard, and then decided to knowingly plant the wrong grass seed. It took weeks for the landscaper to come back and cover a small portion of the trench with a roll of sod. The contractor didn't even have the guts to knock on the door and get my neighbor or I see the fix. When I came outside to watch the. Make the repair, the foreman wouldn't even meet my eye. I have had the Warranty Department Manager (Daniel Gentry) give me every excuse under the sun for why he/they haven't made this or that repair. The HOA crown set up is also a joke (overseen by L.S. Management & Associates- McDonough, GA). They charge the community $75/month for a phone at our pool and $80/month for pool maintenance when the pool hasn't been open in the nearly two years we've been here. They also somehow claim to spend $75/month on postage for our communities when they have sent out literally two letters in those two years. Not to mention that they refuse to tell us how they spent our dues last after repeated written requests.
I wish there had been a review like this before we bought our house. If you're considering a Crown Communities/Al Pillon home, I would definitely recommend you look elsewhere.
Should a representative from Crown like to make good on the warranty concerns we have, we own lot 80 of the Estates.
