On Father’s Day, June 15, 2014 I called for Subaru / Cross COuntry Motor Club roadside assistance after my car sustained damage to both passenger side wheels. The operator promised the tow truck would arrive within one hour. When the tow did not arrive after an hour I called Express Towing LLC directly. The dispatcher told me the driver had not even left to assist me and estimated an additional hour. I told the tow company dispatcher to cancel the tow and called AAA to assist me.
Subaru promised I could “Go anywhere. And take peace of mind….” because Cross Country Motor Club’s “reputation for quality service is reflected each day in the services provided to their Subaru Roadside Assistance Plus customers.”
Cross Country Motor Club promises to deliver the "gold standard in roadside assistance".
Clearly this is not the case.
I asked CCMC operator if there were any other tow companies to choose from. I was told there was not. My research has found that Express Towing LLC is not listed in the Rhode Island Secretary of State Corporate Database.
I have spoken with several tow company operators since this incident. I have learned that they would expect to be paid about $35.00 from Cross Country Motor Club for a call of this nature. That is why these reputable tow companies do not contract to tow for the club. I suspect this is why the tow driver was not motivated to leave his family on a sunny Father’s Day. He would lose money on such a call.
