I worked for Crosby trucking for a period of time as a professional tractor trailer driver. Here are my complaints.
This company claims to pay detention pay for wait time at shippers and receivers at a pay rate to the driver of $12.00 per hour. You must at least be on time for the appointment, and wait for more than 2 hours and your detention pay starts at hour 2 going on until you are loaded or empty. I waited longer than 2 hours on multiple occasions, yet only once did I receive detention pay. I waited at a shipper for 18 hours and only got paid for 12 hours of detention.
They took money out of my pay on one occasion for a late delivery which was their fault because the dispatcher scheduled it, then after notifying him that due to federal laws pertaining to Commercial Motor Vehicles, and their hours of service, I would not make the appointment. He was supposed to reschedule the delivery appointment, and did not. That receiver charged the company a late fee which in turn they took out of my pay.
The way they pay their drivers is very unfair. They say they pay PC Miler and that your mileage will naturally be short 10%. However, on MULTIPLE trips, I was shorted more than 10%. I was not paid actual miles or no where near it. On a 500 mile trip I would get paid like 300 miles. They pay as the crow flies, not as the truck drives. Yet they also according to their policy, can deduct $1 per mile for traveling a different route other than the dispatched route, yet if you follow dispatched route, you get cheated out of miles, so you the driver loses money either way with this company.
