I was approached via phone, from this Law Group, regarding the fact I was having difficulty getting a modification from my loan company. I had gone through a divorce, was between jobs and no longer recieving child support and needed a lower mortgage payment. This company stated they could help me, discussed how my mortgage company was not listening to me and indicated they would be able to help me. I sent them lots of paperwork and documents, as well as at least 1500.00, they stated a modification had gone through, around October, and to await being contacted by my Mortgage company within another month. I waited for the mortgage company to contact me, they never did, and now I am going to lose my home.
This law firm claims to be on your side during the foreclosure of remodification process, however it seems that they don't have your best interest in mind. They remodified my uncle's loan, and made his financial situation worse. The new loan has a longer term (30 years to 40 years), and the interest rate increased. The loan terms changed, but the payment stayed the same.
It seems to me that all they did was refinance the loan. My uncle owes more money over a longer term. The person he was dealing with was always available during the process, but after the loan was closed, he disappeared. The numbers provided in the email response were useless. The phone number is always busy and the fax number is uesless. No one responds to the faxes sent.
They are con artists. My uncle recieved a letter in the mail, and he thought they can help, because they claimed to be able to help people that needed help with loan modification. He was too trusting, and called the number. I would not recommend using a lawyer that uses mass marketing techniques such as mass mailing. Use a lawyer that is referred to you by a trusted source. It seems to me they are collecting a commission from the bank as a mortgage broker and hitting the road. Beware!!!!
