We took our 79 Harvey to Crawford Boats to get the bottom re-glassed (re-surfaced), some minor repairs done and the transom & hull painted.
We paid $1,000 up front to begin the process. Boat was delivered on March 11th or 12th. We were told it would take 4 to 6 weeks to complete the work & that they would keep us updated on the progress. After 4 weeks we inquired on the progress to be told the repairs were done but that he had to wait for better weather to paint. I contacted him 2 weeks or so later to find the painting still hadn't been done due to weather, but that he'd have it done that Friday - that would mean done by May 9th. They simply kept putting us off with excuses.
Finally on May 20th, Tom went to retrieve our boat. Some 70 days (over 2 months) after leaving it with Joe Crawford.
1st - He didn't reglass (resurface) the bottom of the boat at all. But we paid him up front for that to be done.
2nd - The paint job? OMG!!!! It was awful! There were places where paint was missing, sanding marks and gouges on the hull and transom, areas where the paint had dripped and not corrected, areas under the ribs of the hull where the paint dripped was left rough and unfinished.
3rd - Last bu not least, OVERSPRAY. From the anchor in the front to the outdrive off the back and everywhere in between. i mean everywhere - floor, windshield, lights, anchor, trim, floor, antennaes, nothing was left untouched.
3rd - I sent them a certified letter as well as copied the letter to them via email demanding our money back. Their response was to bring it back for warranty work. After what I saw the first go round? Not Hardly!
All in all we paid him $2,000 for poor quality and unprofessional workmanship.
HEAD THIS WARNING!!!!! Do Not Take Your precious boat to this man. He hasn't refunded our money and i've had to turn in a claim with Oregon Financial Fraud Dept to attempt to get our money back.
