This is NOT a great local business. In fact it is the WORST kind of business! The owners should sell this motel to someone who knows how to treat people. I booked a room at this motel a few months ago for an event coming up in two weeks that we will be working at. The manager of Conty's Motel, called me this morning to "confirm" my reservation and wanted to "let me know" that the rate had gone up an additional $25 per night from when I booked the room. I booked the room and gave them my credit card info in August of 2014.
This is the first time we have ever had a hotel/motel try to change the rate after booking. Robert (the manager) started by telling me that it is "against the law" to book a room months in advance (which is ridiculous.. we book sometimes a year in advance as many people do), then after fighting with me on the phone he put the owner, Mrs. Conty on the phone and she was screaming at me! My wife could even hear her and she wasn't wasn't even on the phone. In her thick accent she was calling me "sneaky" and "a liar" for booking the room early before the rates went up. "SNEAKY" for booking a room in advance! WTF?!!! That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard! She said their employee Mariana, who took our reservation and our American Express number didn't know what she was doing. How was that our fault? It was outrageous! What a rude and disrespectful way to treat people! What GREED!
As soon as I suggested that I was going to post negative reviews and call the Naples Better Business Bureau, etc. she immediately put the manager back on the phone to tell me they were going to honor the rate. At that point I told them to cancel my reservation and that I would rather pay more somewhere else where they treat people respectfully.
Conty's may be a nice clean motel (we do not know since we never stayed there and NEVER will) but the owner Mrs. Conty and Robert her manager are disgraceful and rude. There should be some accountability for their actions and I hope they rue the day they thought trying to weasel a little more money out of a customer was more important than honoring their own booking. Shame, Shame on them!!!
