I received a phone call at 11:00AM telling me i had won $500,000 in the Consumers Clearing House. I was skeptical, but I listened. It sounded legitimate as I listened more. They had my husband get on the line.
After much conversation, they told us we would have to come up with the taxes on the $500K, which would be about $6,500, but, because she was able to negotiate for us, "all" we would need to pay was $4.000 to cover the taxes. No, the amount could not be paid after we got the check. No, we couldn't have the amount deducted from the check. We HAD to send the money on our credit card today.
She gave me a number for the "US Lottery and Gaming Comission". I used my True Caller app on my cell, and found that the number was for Worldwide Tel. Obviously I was being scammed.
I then checked online for "Consumers Clearing House", and. lo and behold, found this site and several others telling the same sad story I have.
When "Katherine" called me back to see if I had "confirmed my entry", I told her I had checked the number she'd gien me, and that it belonged to Worldwide Tel, NOT the US Lottery and Gaming Commission". I then said I had looked up Consumers Clearinghouse and found multiple reports of their scamming. I told her she should be ashemed of herself for trying to scam honest people out of their money.
BEWARE THE SCAMMERS!!! They have no conscience and no morals!
