Our experience is almost identical to the first written complaint above and occurred even during the same week March 5, 2012, same resort. We were celebrating a 40th wedding anniversary, were highly pressured to schedule a timeshare meeting before we even checked in to our room. Tired from the long flight and travel we agreed to attend.
After choosing not to purchase, we were visited by a higher level manager and then followed quickly by another with high pressure. They answered our questions satisfactorily, but the next day we contacted the salesperson and told her we wanted to cancel. She said she would contact her manager who set up an appointment the following day. When we met and stated our desire to cancell the contract he said Mexico does not have a rescind period to cancel a contract like as in the U.S.A.
After arriving home and going over the contract and checking out a few details, we found this manager had boldly lied to us. To show his "good faith", he said he would issue us a bonus week certificate for a week to be used within the year (of which we retain with his signature and that of the typist). We never used it.
When I see the date of your complaint, I am very upset. I was "taken" by this company in 2010 at the most vulnerable time in my life, having just lost my father AND my husband. They played on that vulnerability and filled me with mimosas and I made a decision under the influence of pressure and alcohol.. I tried to cancel and was told I would be sued.
Am so tired of dealing with these people. I paid my unit off, and told them to cancel my contract. I do not want to use any of my entitled weeks. I want it closed/canceled. Yet I keep getting maintenance bills which I return and tell them to cancel and all they do is send me another bill.I have never met a more inept group.
