First off, this is NOT the fault of Gold's Gym on Hull Street in Midlothisn, VA. This is the Compel Fitness group. I signed up for a year's personal trainer to prepare for atotal right knee replacement. I am in my 60's and needed the help. I was told the contract was for a year and that nearing the end of that contract, my trainer would contact me as I would then be charged month-to-month with no obligation to continue. I work two jobs to provide for my family. I have an HSA account to pay for medical bill as I have a high deductible.
No one contacted me as my trainer left that location. My contract ran from the end of may 2012 to the end of May 2013. For the past 16 months Paramount Corp. who does the billing for Compel Fitness has been taking out $80.00/month. I just reviewed my HSA account and found out that $1,280 had been taken out over the past 16 months for a "service" I was no longer using and had no idea I was still paying for.
The Compel trainer, a great person, by the way, said that Compel could not reimburse anything. but that I should contact Paramount Corp personally and explain the situation as they were the only ones who could deal with and possibly reimburse the funds to my health savinf account. I contacted Paramount Corp today and they said only Compel Fitness could make anything happen.
I know that the local Compell Fitness people have NO acess to the funds that are charged by Paramount Corp. I was given the royal "run-around". I could have paid off my knee repalcement with the funds they were more than happy to keep removing from my account...not one saying anything to remind this forgetful senior. I actually feel violated and abused.
I will never be in any contractual relationship that involves Compel Fitness and it's billing company, Paramount Corp. I believe they should reimburse funds. I had NO "presonal training for the past 16 months, no contacts, no inquiries, no questions...just a willingness to take my funds as long as they could until I realized I was being "legally robbed".
