Associa charges $290 to look up an account and write an account status letter to enable a property to be resold. They claim that they need 10 days to do 15 minutes of work. Then they fail to even provide the required report to the title company in a timely manner, thereby causing a real estate closing to be delayed.
When repeated attempts are made, by the title company, the selling owner, and the Real Estate broker for the sale, the person in the resale department (Melissa) never answers her phone, and NEVER returns voicemail requests. The title company says that this organization is well known for being uncooperative.
Since Associa charges an outrageous fee for very little work, and since they then fail to provide the service paid for, my opinion is that they are acting in a fraudulent manner. Before you consider buying a property in a HOA managed by Assoica, be warned that you will eventually regret doing so.
