Color Festival Reviews

The Color Festival is a shameful, unorganized and selfish company. They plan and advertise events they never intend to have. For months, I saw exciting advertisements on facebook for "The World's largest color festival" coming to Eden Prairie, MN. I thought it was a little weird that the venue listed was at a high school in the suburbs, and not at a larger space somewhere in the city, but I was too excited to overthink it.

I bought the tickets a few weeks in advance. I talked to a few girls that attend that high school and asked if they were going, and I thought it was a little weird that neither of them had either heard of it. I thought they would have signs in the school advertising the event since that's where it was supposed to be held and young people were a target audience.

The facebook event page said the festival would take place from 12-5 at the Eden Prairie high school but did not list much other information.

When we arrived at 12:30, there were no signs. Nothing was set up. No colors, yoga, or delicious food. Just dissapointment. No one at the school knew anything about an event. About 100 other people were there, too, also looking for the "Color Festival." The police were contacted by another individual and was told that they also did not know anything about a festival. No one had reserved the space, or the park across the street.

Many people left posts on their facebook event page and main page to complain, and all these posts were deleted. Later that evening, they finally posted an "apology" that people were not notified. I have made numerous attempts to contact them via live chat, phone, email, and facebook and have been unable to receive a full refund. I have asked so many times that they have blocked me from posting on their facebook.

I learned that their upcoming Color Festival event on August 30 in Portland, OR was already canceled but they had not notified anyone (by contacting the venue). However, they kept selling tickets until just a few nights before the festival! Many people also were not notified, and are also struggling to receive their refund. Once again, all posts of people asking for a refund have been deleted/ignored.

I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau and was not shocked to learn that there have been over 50 complaints filed against this company in the last year! The BBB rated this company an "F" and so do I!

I'm one of the lucky ones. I originally saw the advertisement for the fun festival of colors coming to Portland on Facebook. I thought it seemed fun so I looked it up online as I tend to do because Facebook has tons of advertising and who knows what's legitimate. I spoke to someone at the Clark County Event Center where it was to be held (Vancouver, WA - NOT Portland, OR) because I thought it seemed odd that the only information available for it was to buy tickets, but there was no other sign of the event other than Facebook advertising. I wasn't surprised to find it was cancelled, yet they were still selling tickets. I began seeing posts of people discussing cancelled events with no refunds.

Tickets to this cancelled event were still being sold until the event neared when suddenly the cancellation was posted. Everyone who has tried to get a refund is being ignored. All the posts of angry customers are being deleted so that the only thing to show up on the page are the very few events that did happen. There were so many people trying to warn others, and of course those posts were deleted as well. What a profit!

Beware and research any events by the hosts and ticket sellers before putting forth any money, no matter how minimal. This is a genius scam, but I suppose as someone else said, as long as 1 out of 4 events actually happens then it's obviously legit! Note the sarcasm! Last I recall that's stealing!!! So, if they don't think that's what they're doing then they're either super dumb and beyond unorganized OR they're the genius masterminds of scams! I think the latter!!! We're all smart enough to see through the B.S. Thanks for the grande insult!

The Color Festival is a scam. They plan events and gather funds only to later cancel events. Information can be found on Facebook on the Color Festival main page. That is where they list and sell tickets through Event Brite only to later cancel events and not refund ticket sales. They posted a page for the cancelled Portland event, but nobody has been able get a refund and emails are kicked back as "unrecognized." They delete comments from angry customers, but most have seen the comments and many are still up for viewing.

What seems to be happening is the proceeds from each cancelled event are going towards a larger event that does occur. So far there have been 3 cancelled events for every event held, which means there's a profit from 4 events and no refunds to the cancelled ones. People are angry and tickets are $20 a person which doesn't sound like much until you add up what the "business" profits.

If it's figured approximately 250 per event X 4 events is $20,000 and no idea what it costs to host 1 event, but there seems to be a huge profit here.

They put legitimate color events in the "Press" section of their menu which are not associated with their group. It seems they use those to legitimize their events. After all, it is a color event that's supposed to represent the famous Holi Fest of peace, but they will give the Holi Festival a bad name! The real Holi Festival of Colours actually occurs in Spring worldwide! There is nothing peaceful about what this ripoff Color Festival is doing!
