The Coldwater Creek that most people know went bankrupt in early 2014 and closed all of their retail stores. An investment firm bought up the assets and domain name and reopened as Coldwater Creek Direct, LLC in October, 2014. The new company doesn't have it's act together.
I placed an order of two items on Dec. 15 with the promise that they would be delivered by Christmas. Two days before Christmas I called to find out the status of my order and they couldn't find it! I was on hold for 15 minutes and finally was told that "it was being packed". I asked if it would still arrive by Christmas and they told me "Thursday". When I reminded them that that was Christmas Day, I asked if they would ship FedEx Next Day and they said they would. I asked if they would call me when that happened and once again they said that they would. Neither happened. And needless to say, the order did NOT arrive by Christmas!
I did receive one item in the order on the Saturday AFTER Christmas by regular USPS. I then called the following Monday to find out what happened to the second item, I was told it was out of stock. When I asked why I was not informed of that when I originally placed the order, they could not provide an answer.
I asked for the name of the President of the company in order to write a complaint letter, and was told that they could not give out that information. My research later discovered that it is David Walde, who was hired away from John Blair to run their operation,
This company does not have their act together, and so I'd advise to stay far away.
What's up with the Coldwater Creek liquisdation sale? Do not buy at these supposed 70% off prices! I got some of these items cheaper when they had sales and coupons. This is before their going out of business sale.
On April 11 2014, Coldwater Creek filed Chapter 11. They posted FAQs on their website. As an Elite member, I relied on their policy of free returns and ordered over $2,000 in merchandise in a 2-month period. Therefore, this is an existing, earned benefit and not a future benefit. According to their FAQ, they are accepting returns through May 7 2014 under their current policy, and have suspended future loyalty benefits.
On April 12 2014, I called Coldwater Creek Customer Service and was told they will not allow free returns for any existing orders for Elite loyalty members. This company continues to do business, continues to accept returns, have suspended only future benefits, and therefore should honor the free returns for existing orders; this is not a future benefit.
Following is the Customer Policies section of the FAQ they posted:
We will continue to accept valid returns and price adjustments under our current policy through May 7, 2014. However, we will not issue cash refunds beginning Friday April 11, 2014 through Monday April 14, 2014.
We will continue to honor the redemption of any coupons, certificates and merchandise credits with a valid expiration date through May 7, 2014.
We will continue to honor gift cards in our stores and on our website. However effective April 11, 2014 they will no longer be for sale.
We will continue to honor Spa Series Cards in our spas. However effective April 11, 2014 they will no longer be for sale.
Coldwater Creek credit cards may continue to be used as tender, however the future earned benefits of these programs has been suspended.
Effective April 11, 2014 new credit cards can only be opened in our stores.
Effective April 11, 2014, we have suspended our Rewards loyalty program:
We will not be able to enroll new members.
All future benefits of the program, regardless of level achieved, will cease. We will continue to honor any coupons or certificates previously earned with a valid redemption date, until further notice.
We will no longer accept Groupon coupons. Please contact Groupon directly for resolution.
