We provided website design, maintenance and search engine optimization for Clean and Green Solutions in Porter Texas owned and operated by Doug Rucker since about February of 2014. We provided the services on a month to month basis, no long term contracts as we allow clients to be able to cancel at anytime.
So from February to November of 2014 we managed their main website and also a few other sister sites. In that time we maintained a first page ranking for this business and was able to provide a near 100% up time for all of the websites. They payed every month, they referred new clients to us and overall was happy with the services we provided. (We assume you would have to be at least relatively happy if you pay for almost 11 months and refer new clients to us)
Then to be completely honest I myself went to jail in November for a couple of weeks. But we have 3 other employees who work and manage the business so nobody was left without service of any sort. Every client was still going to receive the same exact service they had been.
Well word got out that I was in jail and per the recommendation of a "friend" of Doug Ruckers they felt the best course of action was to quit service with us and then dispute all payments that were made since February. So over the past few weeks we have received 13 chargebacks from Doug Rucker himself. One for every month we serviced them and then 2 for a couple of web designs we did for them. Every chargeback reason was fraud/unknown charge.
So over $4,000 was essentially stolen from us. The way chargebacks work is they take the money first then allow us to dispute the charges but have not been successful in getting anything back yet at this point.
Then come to find out the friend (who is also a chair member of the UAMCC. United Association of Mobile Contract Cleaners) posted on a public forum that anybody who did business with us should file chargebacks. The reason? Because I was in jail. Which to the best of my knowledge is not a real reason to file chargebacks for a service that was already provided.
For almost a year we did nothing but provide them with a service that gave him proven results and increase his client base. What happens to a member of our team does not reflect on a service provided the previous month or 10 months prior.
Its unfortunate also that its this easy to just call your credit card company and get money back from almost a year ago. There really should be a limit or better investigation that goes into these chargebacks.
Again we have disputed all chargebacks and have made sure to file criminal charges for each one as well since its considered credit card fraud. We have tried working with our merchant Intuit on these chargebacks but they have been no help and while we understand its mostly the issuing credit card company doing this Intuit will only escalate and help us if we were to pay them $500 per chargeback. We have clearly already lost enough money and shelling out over $5000 to get $4000 just doesnt make sense to begin with.
Its also unfortuante that the reason they are doing this is because somebody in our team went to jail. Them going to jail was for no reason associated with our business or any of our clients either. It literally had no impact on any client. People make mistakes but why they think that disputing charges for every month they have had service is some sort of retribution is beyond us. The fact of the matter is we are a very small company and by doing what they did has made our future unknown. I only hope that The Universe corrects this wrong eventually especially if no criminal or civil action can be taken.
