Classic Lube Express Reviews

  • Sep 5, 2014

I live in SE Portland and was visiting a friend in Beaverton. On the way there I was talking about needing an oil change when we passed by a classic lube sign for a $19.99 oil change. Usually go to the same place every time by my house, but this place looked quick and it was on the way, so we stopped.

Everything started off like a normal oil change. We pull in, tell em what we want, go to the waiting room and wait for them to change the oil. We were in the waiting room for about 5 minutes when a tech comes in and asks me to come look at the car. Thought he was going to do the whole upselling thing, but he didn't. He said that he was having trouble getting the dip stick out. He said that it was common issue they run into and that he didn't want to break it!?!

My first question was "why are you telling me this"? I am not an expert on changing car oil, nor am I an expert at pulling out a dip stick. Anyways.... he tells me to grab it and pull. I was sitting there with no clue as to what was going. I told him I didn't think it was a good idea, but he told me that it wouldn't be a problem and it'll come right out. I said then why doesnt he do it? Again, he goes back to the liability excuse... which I call BS on because it's already a liability having me out in the bay area and an even bigger one having a customer stick their hands in the hot engine of a car under the direction of an employee of Classic Lube.

So I do exactly as he say's while telling him it's not a good idea. He says pull on it, so I do and it doesn't move, so he say's twist and pull, again I tell him that I dont want to do this and that it's his job. He says that it's no problem and to pull again. This time the dip stick breaks off. At this moment it's 95 degrees outside, I'm standing over my car with the dip stick handle in my hand completely and totally in disbelief. I look at him and ask who's going to fix this. The tech then tells me it's my fault, that the same thing happened to a woman earlier today in their shop. Total disbelief. In my 20 years of driving a car, on average, I have had over 80 oil changes. Never has anyone ever directed me to do that... and I told them that. They said that it happens all of the time. So... I tell them that they're fixing my car. I'm irritated and they just broke my car.

Then a very round, rude, sweaty, bald man chimes in and yells at me "it's your fault a$$ho*&". Wasn't expecting that one and at this point my girlfriend had come out and was witnessing the whole thing. I tell the round, sweaty, bald man that he can go ahead and get me the owners name and phone number since I'll be calling him about the damage on my car and his nasty employees. Sweaty, bald man tells me that I cant have it and I can talk to him cause he's the general manager! Ha! Okay! So I inform him that he cannot withhold this information. He tells me to F*&* Off or Ihe's gonna kick my A$$ and I'm not speaking to the owner. Funny thing is that I'm 6' 5", I very much enjoy mixed martial arts and sparring is part of my everyday vocabulary. I have to be honest and say that it took every bit of restraint I had to not take him up on his offer. I just laughed at him and informed him that I don't get into I can look up the owners information with a basic search, but because of ignorance they did not give me the owners information. I did however get the general managers card. I took my car to my normal place (where I should have gone in the first place), they changed my oil and gave me an estimate for the repair on my car from what Classic Lube did.

The general managers name is Scott Brown. In front of witnesses this man broke my car, yelled profanities at me and threatens me with violence. I plan to take every, single available action against this company. They are not BBB Accredited, they put up fake reviews online to try and hide their already bad reputation. Scott Brown, general manager at Classic Lube in Beaverton, Oregon, off of Walker road | rip-off | You've Been Warned.
