During the infamous Cliven Bundy / BLM standoff, calls to Sheriff Gillespie from Bunkerville NV citizens went without a response. In fact, all of those Clark County Nevada citizens who were protesting peacefully were abandoned by all emergency services. After an altercation with BLM officers, which resulted in an older woman being body slammed to the ground by a BLM officer, calls were made to 911. The 911 operator told the caller to not call 911 again; that if they did they would face ""federal"" charges. Since when does the federal government have jurisdiction over a 911 call. Someone was injured and they are threatened with ""federal"" charges?
Las Vegas Metro PD is the designated emergency responder for the Bunkerville / Bundy Ranch area of Clark County. When they were called to ask about emergency services to this area, they said they are not handling it and I was directed to the Lake Mead Recreatin Area emergency service. When I called them, they said they were not handling emergency services to that area and gave me this number: 1-877-423-5817. When I called, a voice mail said: ""You've reached the Trespass Cattle Information Hotline"" and to ""leave a message."" Really? That is the way this coward, Gillespie, abandons his lawful responsibility to his citizens?
The real issue behind all of this is the collusion of Nevada County and State officials with Harry Reid and his lobbyist son, Rory, who were involved in a deal representing a Chinese energy company, ENN Energy, to build a solar energy farm on County and Public Lands. The first deal involved a piece of Clark County land in Laughlin appraised at $38 Million dollars. Yet, the Clark County Commissioners sold this land for $4 Million. Clark County voters should be screaming for an explanation into why the Commissioners left $34 Million on the table. Kickbacks? No doubt.
How does this relate to Sheriff Gillespie and the Bundy Ranch standoff? Harry Reid's former senior adviser, Neil Kornze, recently became the new head of the BLM. Conflict of Interest? Absolutely. The BLM just scrubbed a document on its website that admits to the nuisance of Cliven Bundy's cattle and how they are standing in the way of development of a solar energy farm. Google ""Bombshell: Harry Reid behind Bundy Ranch scandal according to purged documents."" On this site you will find the link to the purged BLM document in question that potentially incriminates anyone in Nevada with ties to the Bundy Ranch standoff and the development of solar energy in Clark County.
A criminal investigation needs to be launched into the collusion of Harry Reid, his son Rory, Neil Kornze of BLM, the Clark County Commissioners, and the one individual who could have brought a peaceful stay to this matter early on: Sheriff Douglass Gillespie. But, as you can see from the picture of Sheriff Gillespie standing with Harry Reid to receive his ""Sheriff of the Year"" award, that wasn't going to happen. It was only after the story broke about the corrupt involvement of Harry Reid in this dispute that Sheriff Gillespie made the trip to Bunkerville (4/12/14).
Sheriff Gillespie should not only turn in his Sheriff of the Year award, he should immediately step down for his failure to do his job and protect and serve his constituents.
