I applied for a payday/installment loan and received an e-mail from citi financial and inside the loan officer was listed as eric mathews.
the loan papers give you your approval status and loan number. the amount is usually for $3,000.00. you must make the first installment of $186.66 via a green dot money pak. once you call them back and give them the code they say your credit score is not high enough for them to further your loan into your account unless you have a score of 820 and higher.
he said that if i paid an additional $228. that my credit score would be raised to 820 and i would never have a problem getting a loan again. i told him he was a fraud and i was going to report him. with further discussion he said the money i paid would be refunded in approximately 7 days if i did not pay the additional amount.
i just received another e-mail from him stating since i did not pay the additional funds there would be no refund.
in the last few weeks i have seen several types of these fraudulent loans pop up. if they want money up front don't do it.
