Greetings, on 03/19/15 my friend had her water cut off in her home. Citizen energy is in control of the water and gas. My friend had lost her job on 09/01/14, on this date my mom was hospitalized for cancer. I did not want my mom in a nursing home so with the help of my friend Mary we were able to provide hospice care for my mom. After I had ran out of FMLA time , my friend Mary stepped in to help while I was at work, Mary was an angel to my mom, Mary decided to wait a while before she started job seeking in order to help my mom, and I paid bills for Mary and myself.

My mom passed almost exactly 6 months from 09/01/14, we were all hurt and devestated. My mom did not have life insurance, myself and some family members pitched in for the funeral, During this time I had to take some unpaid days from work in order to make funeral arrangements. In march of 2015 money was low , had to catch up with the normal bills (home ,car, gas , light etc..). During this time my friend had just had the chance to look for a job.

My friend called the Citizen group to make arrangements on the gas and water bill that was now in disconnect, on 03/19/15, the phone rep gave us an option to pay 51.00 on mary's water bill so that the services would not get disconnected, we agreed to pay, and the Citizen energy group said once the payment was made they could make arrangements for the balance due. We called Citizen energy group back with the confirmation number to show the 51.00 dollar payment was made, now the new phone rep said the balance of 250.00 is due before the water can get turned back on,yes the water was disconnected, once we explained the issue with this new rep she says that Mary does not qualify for assistance because she made to much income, as Mary explained ,she was out of work and needed a little more time to catch up, the rep said to bring mary's W2, to the Citizen branch to verify income. Mary brought her W2 with her ID, Mary made about $19,000 in 2014 with a child living with her , The manager at the branch said that Mary still did not qualify for assistance, we explained to the manager at the branch that the phone rep said that the water would get turned on after making the 51.00 payment and showing Mary's income. The manager did not want to her anything , she denied the request even though she could see the arrangement on the computer, the manager did an overide and denied the assistance, Mary is now at home with no running water for herself are child that is in school. What has this country come to when we cannot help our fellow Americans in a time of need, we only needed a couple of weeks to catch up.

Citizen energy lied to Mary , and took her last 50.00, which she needed for food . I will continue to help Mary but I missed work due to making arrangement for my mom's funeral and any extra money I had went towards the funeral. We had ask the Citizen group for just 2 addition weeks ,in order for me to get a pay check to help Mary.

Mary has been trying hard to find a job, which I am sure she will find one soon, but why would the Citizen energy group go to such extreme mearsures ,such as cutting off the water on her child and herself. I don't understand why Citizen energy does not have to honor what they said to her about keeping the water on after the 51.00 dollar payment was made.

I know since Citizen energy group is a monopoly in Indianapolis , I am sure they feel that there is nothing the consumer can do. Is ther anyone that can offer some suggestions?
