I am trying to get my ex off the mortgage, house is legally mine. The release of liability was denied because of foreclosures in 2009. My credit is perfect after that and I have been paying on time every month for five years. I am working on appealing their decision.
What I am questioning is why you have to apply and pay $900 and then you are told it was denied and they keep your funds. What are their requirements? Do they have to be listed somewhere? Couldn't they discuss what is required with you or have the information available somewhere or is this just a money maker for them?

I recently tried to refinance my house with CitiMortgage to lower the interest rate and the number of years I was financing. I was assigned a mortgage consultant by the name of Grantham T. Spencer. I started the process via an online chat through citimortgage website.
As I talked to Grantham he mentioned within two days I would receive a survey to rate his help. I knew I was in trouble when Grantham said, "I'll be blunt if I don't get all 10's I won't have a job". How professional I thought the " certified mortgage consultant" wants all 10's and we haven't even started.
The first couple of days I contacted Grantham to ask him questions but no answer, left emails and voice mails with no answer.Boy, Grantham wants all 10s but can't answer the phone. Fast forward a few weeks I had an appraisal of 345k on a house where I owed 280k. Citimortgage denied me the refinance unless I paid PMI. I disputed the appraisal with three compareables that were similar to my house. The origianal appraisal company L&S appraisals inc (David Bower) really screwed my appraisal choosing houses that were twenty five years older than mine. My dispute denial confused me...
Meanwhile my mortgage consultant was changed from Grantham to his manager, Bradley Everhart. Bradley is NOT a certified mortgage consultant who is not legally allowed to process any loan...smart move citimortgage. Bradley Everhart was very unprofessional, constantly not meeting phone call or email deadlines. He threw me to the side since he already got my 500 appraisal cost. 100s of calls to him and citimortgage went unanswered or led no where.
I then called Brad and asked him why was my dispute denied...and why exactly would I even pay PMI. Brad said he did not know why the dispute was denied. He also could not do basic math or calculate my loan to value...he was a coward who didn't want to help.
Citimortgage and all of their mortgage reps are a huge scam. I am convinced refinancing is a scam for the banks to make an extra buck and deny people a way to reduce their years and rate. Thanks to Bradley Everhart, Grantham T Spencer and Brian Middleton for showing me how shity ShitiMortgage really is.
