Letting Agents are legally obliged to put deposits into a Deposit Protection Scheme within 30 days of the tenancy commencing; this protects both landlords and tenants. This lot think that this law does not apply to them.
Example - The £750.00 deposit was NOT PROTECTED because they could not be bothered to put it into a scheme until questionned about it 13 MONTHS LATER!
Landlords or tenants, seek a letting agent elsewhere.
I am a landlord and they scammed me too. They don't pay the money to the landlord, do the correct checks and just collect money from unsuspecting potential tenents.
AVOID THIS COMPANY - they have been done for fraud several times and have loads of dissolved companies
We paid a holding deposit of £530 to move into a property let with chew valley estates in early april. It's almost 1 month on and we do not have a moving date as their current tenant has not yet moved out of the property.
With the situation becoming increasingly stressful we decided to ask today if our holding deposit could be returned to us. Sam of chew valley estates refused- told a million lies and hung up on me, my mother and my partner when we tried to challenge her. We never signed to say it was non-refundable and have telephoned every day for a moving date for a month and have never been given one. I am beginning to question if the property was ever going to be vacant at all or if it's just an elaborate scam. I have since researched the company and found that they have a history of criminal behaviour! disgusting people who think the laws don't apply to them!
Paid Chew Valley Estates a £530 holding deposit with the view to moving into a property in early April. Almost 1 month on and we still don't have a moving date (the current tenant is still residing there). We have asked for our holding deposit back and been refused as we are the ones pulling out!! It's disgraceful how they treat people. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Stay away
Stay away from these criminals. The worst people I´ve come a cross and very hard to get them to pay you what they owe you.
Here is just an example what they have been up to:
