I too got taken in by changemypostaladdress.com. I was in a hurry, in the middle of my move, and didn't realize I had ended up on masquerade site until it was too late. Totally stupid of me, but this is how these kind of sites work, preying on the fact that you're swamped with moving and not paying attention. Thanks to whoever posted the phone number as I wasn't able to find it before this.
I called (855) 328-4345 and raised some hell. They said they would be more than willing to refund me but couldn't find me in the system. When I asked them if I could talk to a supervisor or customer service or any person higher up, they said there was no one else to talk to, but they could provide me with an email. After emailing back and forth for 24 hours, the money showed back up in my account today.
I advise anyone who was victim on this scam to CANCEL YOUR CARD IMMEDIATELY. I do not trust a "company" with a mailing address in Malaysia, a wired account through San Antonio, and no way of contacting them posted on THEIR website.
Noticed My Mistake Quickly and Cancelled Credit Card
I have used USPS dozens of times to do address change and mail holds, so I should know what I am doing. Duh?, I was in a rush and our "friend" Google puts this scammer at the top of the search list. I typed in USPS and right in the forefront is ChangeMyPostalAddress. Posters are right about the way they formulate their web pages. It is very similar to USPS. They clearly display that the charge is only $1.05 (another reason I thought I was at USPS) and never showed other charges, which turned out to be $39.95. I started to question them when the "State" name in my address was wrong. There was no way to contact them except with the "online form" which generated an email saying the message could not be delivered to :
<[email protected]>. Strange that a company would use an Outlook email address.
I quickly did the correct address change with USPS for $1.05 and contacted my credit card company who said they would challenge the $39.95 charge for me, cancel my card (don't want them trying to use it) and send me a new card.
Notice how all the big type on their website refers to USPS terms but the small print, hidden somewhere (I never saw the $39.95) is buried "someplace" after you provide your credit information. Sorry that the USPS has not taken a more active role in having prominently displayed that it is not USPS but a commercial site that feeds on people's mistakes. Show me ONE person that has purposely used the site to change their address.
Yep, I got tricked too. Just called and talked to a live rep. He said they didn't see the transaction, but CapitalOne sure did as it showed as pending. Going to call CapitalOne to dispute the charge after it posts tomorrow. Then to BBB to file an official report. After everything else, I'm destroying the card and having a new one sent with a different number. This is ridiculous and US postal service does share the responsibility and accountability for allowing this to continue.
I just got off the phone with these people. Called the 855-328-4345 number and talked to a girl that seemed nice but. . . they can't find any record of my charges, but it shows up on my bank account. She said she would get back to me in 48-72 hours. In the meantime I'll be calling my bank and filing a claim with them on this charge.
I noticed after filling all my information in that it was charging the $39.95, I clicked off of it without submitting payment but it went ahead and charged my card anyway. Totally illegal and bogus. I'm calling BBB right now. After reading all the alerts on this site, why is it still doing business???
January 23, 2015 and still this company is scamming people and still the very first link on Google. What a disgrace to and embarrassment for Google right?
Well here we are in 2015 and yet nothing has happened to this company. Scamming still in full effect and victims still being punished for believing they are legitimately changing their addy. ALL THESE VICTIMS AND NO REPERCUSSIONS FOR THIS BUSINESS?! Calling BofA tomorrow to get this bullsh*t fixed.
I went on this site thinking it was usps.com because like most scammers they have a site that looks almost identical. I put all my info in and when I got to the last page I saw the fine print that it was a charge of $39.95....WHOA. I thought to myself, well a four letter word, thank god I caught this garbage and exited out and went directly to usps.com. A few days later the charge showed up on my credit card for $39.95. I went on the website and of course there is no phone number to call, only a place to leave a message and have someone email you. I left a message and then found this site and called the number someone provided. I got the same run around others are saying, "They can't find you in the system so they can't do a refund." I said I wanted a supervisor. The supervisor was rude so I handed it right back to him, told him that I would report him to BBB, Google (since it is the google ad that is drawing people in), as well as doing a charge back on my card. The most critical thing is I NEVER HIT SUBMIT. They somehow got all my info without me hitting submit. I immediately called my bank, got the charge reversed and I recommend to everyone to CHANGE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER! These guys are pro's and I would not risk letting them have my credit card info, I am leery they now have my email, name, and address. Good Luck! Fight Back!

Scam
Has anyone had any fraudulent charges to their card after the scam had taken place?
Same thing as above
Make sure to call your bank first and report this as a fraudulent charge. Same exact thing happened to my fiance. They told her they didnt see her in the system and that we had to wait 48 - 72 hours and call back. We are in the process of working with BOA to remove the charge.
Funny thing is BOA called us this morning to report the suspect activity. We even explained to the scammers that the bank could see the charge but was unsure as to why Tasha couldn't see it. We informed them we would be filing a police report as well as a complaint with the BBB
