Champion Fuel and Service Corp had a radio advertisement offering to beat all competitors prices. I called and asked for a delivery of oil. They talke me into signing a contract with them and pre-paying for 500 gallons of oil. I looked over the contract twice and asked a lot of questions and then agreed to do it since I would be using 250 gallons right away. They don't take credit cards. I should have known then. I went to the bank with the salesman, who identified himself as "John". (John later turned out to be David Dasilva who has been banned to do business by the NYS Attorney General due to past numerous complaints). I gave him $1125 in cash. I took his picture though and got a picture of his car just in case.
I was expecting them to come in a day or two to deliver promised first load. They don't show until I run out of oil and they have to come at night and deliver 50 gallons, claiming that was all that was left on the truck. They promise to be back in two days to fill tank. No show. Call everyday until I finally run out again and then they deliver 50 gallons and say they'll be back the next day becasue that was all that was on the truck. I call and call and call but get excuses everyday. I demand a refund and they promise to deliver oil. I run out again and I get 10 gallons of diesel and put it in myself becasue they say they may not be able to get to me. It is now 6 degrees out. Nest day they show up in a Hyundai and deliver 10 gallons out of 2 five gallon cans they had in the trunk of the car. Again, they promise to be there on Monday to fill it up. Monday, NO SHOW.
I call another fuel company. They come immeditely and tell me to call my credit card in to the desk for payment. No issues, great, fast service. Never another call from Champion. I call and go to the office. Other office in building tells me that people come in everyday looking for them. They have many complaints.
Bottom line, I have a complaint filed with NYSP, NYS Attorney General, Dutchess County Weights and Measures, BBB and small claims court. I am waiting for them to get theirs. By the way, the contract says it is automatic delivery and a minimum of 100 gallons per delivery. I got 50, 50 and 10. out of 500.
Signed a prepaid fuel delivery contract (CASH) with Pat Terminello in Sept or October of 2014. They have only delivered 100 gallons since inception of contract and allowed use to run out of fuel.
They try to calm your frantic phone call notifying them you are running out of fuel, which are met with phony promises from a guy calling himself "Mike" that fuel will be delivered, but it has not. Finally no buying oil from other companies to keep my family warm.
Through simple googling, it is easy to discover this company has a business address that is shared with Nu Way Oil in Peekskill NY, a company previously sued by the NYS Attorney General for the same exact treatment of their customers. There is no excuse to treat people in this way and the folks running this scam need to be brought to justice.
Stay away from Champion Fuel and Service corp, they will take your money and run.
Champion Fuel and Service Corp. Reviews
Same compliant as the guy from Hopewell.
Here is the note I wrote to them.
Chamion Oil,
This is a follow up to the phone conversation we had today.
I prepaid for 500 gallons of home heating oil on 10/30/2014 @ 2.65 per gallon. You
agreed to deliver that at a 100 gallon minimum per delivery.
I have made numerous phone calls since 10/30/2014 asking for deliveries.
Not to any fault of mine, I ran out of fuel 4 times.
Here is what I have received to date:
12/12/14 51.6 gals
1/12/15 74.1 gals
1/16/15 50.0 gals
1/25/15 9.7 gals
For a total of 185.4 gals.
I would now like you to cut me a check for the balance of 314.6 gallons, which will be 833.69 cents.
Please let me know if you are able to send the check this week, or if
you would prefer to handle this matter in small claims court.
