This company asked my previous supervisor if they could send a free sample of of fuel additive and he replied we do not need it, but they kept insisting and he said ok, but we already have additive in our fuel. I told my super we didn,t need it. I called them and told them not to send anymore of it. They concurred. My super has since transferred to another position and about 2 weeks ago I received another 5 gals. of it under his name. I sent an e-mail to them and asked that they pick it up because I did not order it, and I received a message that my e-mail did'nt go through. I have asked our account manager not to pay any invoice we receive from that company.
Salesman Jay contacted the hotel in July 2014. He directly asked to speak with our maintenance staff. Immedietly Jay asked if he was interested in purchasing some supplies. Our maintenance staff declined the offer and informed Jay that he was not authorized to make supply orders. At that time Jay asked for his first and last name. Weeks later Toilet Degreaser arrived at our property and was placed directly in a supply closet by a delivery driver and no invoice was left. When cleaning out the closet in November 2014 we discoved the item. There is no company info or return information listed so we did not know who to contact. Middle of November the company called for payment of $133.74. When questioned who ordered the item they gave a name of a person that does not work and never has worked for our hotel. No contact information was left except a fax number for this hotel. Jacob in accounting could not say who contacted whom for this order. We asked if our staff called them or if Jay called the hotel directly. Again, Jacob could not say. When questioned about returning the item we were told at that time that whomever ordered the item was informed that it was a 30 day trial and if we were not satasfied with the product we could sent it back. However the 30 day trail ended in August 2014 and it is no longer eligible for return. We asked if Jay had a recording of whom he spoke with to order it and Jacob again said he did not know. However Jacob also said that he spoke to someone in our accounts payable department who asked for a 30% discount and said the ownership would call to pay the invoice. We have no account department. When questioned for the name of this person he said he did not know. I kindly asked him to talk with Jay and figure it out because we did not order the product and we have no use for it so we will not be paying the bill. Lara, Austin, Texas
We were shipped septic tank activator and poly filler, which were both paid for even though we didn't need or want them. Then two buckets of degreaser showed up along with a $572 invoice. Collections keeps calling for us to pay. No one here ordered it, they don't have a signature or voice recording so we refuse to pay. All others should do the same. maybe if they keep sending their crap to people with no payments coming n they will eventually have to give up their scam.
I wish I had checked the Internet before dealing with these liars. We agreed to a trial of 10 lbs. Then they call you and tell you the contain was broken in transit and will be sending the rest of the order out.
They repeat these calls over and over again saying...its only paper work...only paper work....each time more and more buckets of the useless crap is sent out when they ask for no one to sign for it.
If you dont tell them to stop you will have overflowing buckets to deal with you did Not order and them being annoyingly stupid. Before I could stop the accountant, she had sent out a payment for crap we did not order.
They lie, make up stories and will always tell you its only paper work...each time sending buckets.
My case is similar to yours except I paid Century the first time and told them to stop. They didn't and I refused to accept their product from the delivery company. It is more than 8 months now, they still keep calling us for payment of the product I didn't take.
I should have check out the company online earlier!
I got a call from a salesman and he said he is representing a chemical manufacturing company. He wants to sell chemical for the facility. I explained to him that any company who wants to sell to any city dapartment must be approved vendors. Then he said he will want to send sample for us to try. I said ok.
About a week later I got a 5 gallons container of the product named " Eco Degreaser ". I thought why the company gives out the sample is so much. I gave the container to the plumber to test it out.
Another week and I have received an invoice for it. I was so surprised as I understand this is only sample. I called a few times to the phone number in the invoice and no one answered. I left the message and no one called back. ANother two weeks later and our purchasing department called me and told me they have received an invoice for this and whether I ordered it. I explained about the situation and I told them since I have used the sample and I will pay for it from my own pocket.
Then I called to the Century Manufacturing Corp and informed about it to make sure no more sample to send to me. The sale person named " Alex Andrews " talked to me and he told me since I paid for it he will have to send the remaining sample which was partially damaged during the transport first time. I asked him a few times whether this is to be charged and he told me I have already paid for it.
Last week Friday, I got one 5 gallon container. I called immediately to the phone no. and the receptionist told me that is the replacement for the damaged sample and there will be no charge for it.
This morning, I got the bill for this and the amount is double this time. I called to the number and explained I did not order and requested for the evidence for the order. They said it was verbal order. I talked to the sales man Alex and requested to take back and he said cannot take it because it is chemical and I have to pay for it. I requested to talk to the manager Jake and he said to m,e the same thing. I told them they can do anything. I will keep the container in the storage until they will take it back and will not pay for the thing I did not order.
Then I realized this is the scam. I looked in the internet and found exactly same thing happened to the other people.
I saw the same scam reported in the BBB also. I will report this in the BBB also.
Saleperson from Century Manufacturing Corp called and asked for manager. My staff person that answered the phone said that I was out working on the property. Salesperson said that it was a very important phone call. My staff person brought me a portable phone and when I got on phone the saleperson proceeded with a high pressure sales pitch. He said that he would send me a free sample of the product. While I was talking with the salesperson to get more information about the product and the company I had another phone call come in. I told the salesperson to hold on the line so I could answer another call. I put him on hold. When I got back to the salesperson he had hung up. I never agreed to have the product shipped to me. A few days later the product arrives and one of my staff signed for the product. The product is delivered by UPS and it has a return address of a PO Box. Can not return because UPS will not ship to PO boxes. I did some research and found that this company has several websites using a variation of their name. When you do a whois on the website names they all point back to the same person/company. Matt Sternberg, Ecoclean Solutions, 43 Heisser Court, Farmingdale, NY 11735, ph #516-967-9465.

Got a call offering a "free" sample. Have been billed $132.72 for my free sample of drain cleaner. Will not accept return of item.
