Duane first approached me by knocking on my door. He talked a mean game and convinced me to make an insurance claim on my roof. The insurance payed for my roof, gutter, and some interior repairs. He took the whole first check up front without doing any work, roughly 5k. Was supposed to complete all the work and then I would give him the rest of the money. The roof was completed, not very well I might add, and 3 weeks later the gutters where on. The interior work was not performed very well at all either.
I complained and things where supposed to be fixed but never where. I never saw Duane lift a finger. I finally contacted another neighbor and got the name of the roofing subcontractor Duane used and was able to get my roof fixed. Duane never returned my calls until I called him to say I had the last check. After alot of bickering he finally fixed my complaints and I payed him.
Fast forward a few months I get a lien notice from Duane's guttter subcontracting company stating that my gutters where never payed for! Duane won't answer his phone and I can't find anything out. After doing a lot of research so called ""local"" Duane is actually a traveling storm chaser who now lives with his parents in Bainbridge. He doesn't have insurance so he uses his subcontractors insurance. He also has multiple DUI's and once bragged to me about killing someone. I thought it was a joke, however I am not too sure now.
Beware of Duane Vanbibber and Central Restoration. When I finally payed the gutter company out of my own pocket they informed me they had leins on other customers of Duane's and didn't know where he is. There are a lot of good local contractors out there, don't get caught with Duane Vanbibber or Central Restoration.
