My husband and I went on a tour of the facility. We certainly were not overly impressed, but at the time we couldn’t find any other teen or adolescent treatment program that would take our health insurance. When we went back to check our daughter in, the police were there. They were holding a girl down on the front lawn while an employee from the center came running out with a syringe of something to inject her with. Other clients were running a around taking advantage of the chaos.
To this day I cannot believe that we were actually talked into leaving our daughter here. I look back and just want to kick myself for making such an awful decision! After two more weeks of utter insanity, lack of communication and who knows what elese, we finally pulled our daughter out of here. I mean this is supposed to be a structured clinical envirnment, for teens and adolescents at that! It is hardly that, at least from our experience.
Afterwards we continued to research other teen facilities in the area and our sweetheart ended up getting the quality treatment she needed. We looked at Visions, Newport Academy and a smaller place called Destinations for Recovery. All three seemed better but we ended up choosing Destinations for Recovery because their cost was the most reasonable.
