Supposedly, CC Published in located in Boca Raton, FL. We received a call from someone named Holly at CC Publishing saying the ads would be in Golfer's Choice at 4 local country clubs here in Texas. I checked with the clubs. 3 of the clubs had never heard of Golfer's Choice or CC Publishing. The 4th club knew about the scam, said it was a scam, and that they do not have a publication called Golfer's Choice. I doubt if anything is ever even published.
Yes, I just got a call yesterday from these folks here in Rapid City SD. I realized it might be a scam and did some checking. I had to stop payment and cancel my card as well as issue a new one as they had all my info. I, too, feel these folks need to be stopped.
This has to be stopped. They are using all kinds of false names and still calling all over the metro plex in Dallas area. I am filing complaints from Texas and Florida. I am sending to investigative reporting in Boca Raton Area and all social media. I got his name today with the help of the credit card company he tried to bill on and mirror the above on how he gets you to fall into his scam. The Country Clubs are doing their best to help stop this scam here.
Thanks to all who posted their comments. I got called today from Jaimee who wanted to sell me an ad. I will decline her "offer". Thanks for helping another small business owner.
I am a small business in Arizona who caters to Golfers. I received a call from a "Jaimee" asking if I would be interested in advertising in their magazine that would be distributed to 6 large country clubs in the phoenix area.
Long story short, the magazine doesn't exist. CC Publishing will string you along until the payment is no longer refundable and then send you a copy of their "work" which is a joke.
I called the country clubs that CC Publishing was to send the magazines to, and nobody had heard of the magazine and I wasn't the only business who had called them asking if the magazines had been delivered.
This company needs to be stopped! If anyone calls you asking to advertise in a publication. BEWARE!!! They will take your money and not supply you with the product.
I notified my credit card company to get the money back, and the owner rebuttled it, still insistant that I signed the contract and authorized the transaction. That's all fine and dandy, but I never got what I paid for and could be out $375, which is a lot for this small business.
I was called by a rep for CC publishing to place an ad in their magazine that was to be distributed to 4 major golf clubs. I was told that I would have exclusive rights to be the only person in the magazine to offer my services. They charged me $600. They also said that they wanted to feature me on the front of the magazine for another $600. When I said no they offered it to me for $300. Jamie was the woman's name. She sounded so sweet and encouraging like this was going to be an amazing thing for my business! The magazine was a glorified pamphlet! It was sent to me May 2014. Guess how many people have called me??? NONE!!! I called the country clubs that supposedly they were distributed in and no one heard of their pieces of crap. BE WARNED it's a scam.
This company sold me advertising in magazines that were to go to golf courses. I signed up for an advertisement at 4 local clubs. Then they called back to up-sell me on 4 other clubs. At that point I thought it wise to go to the clubs and see the magazines for myself. Not only were there no magazines to be found, nobody at the clubs had ever heard of or seen these magazines 'Golfer's Choice'. I did not intend to buy advertisement in a magazine that does not exist where it is supposed to be. To CC Publishing credit, they did credit my second advertising purchase when I cancelled within 3 days. However the first purchase was not cancelled. So does this company produce and send the magazines at which point the club dumps them in the dumpster? Or do they just not exist? I don't know, I just know my ad would not be seen.
Been called twice by these clowns. The sales rep was named Kenny and he claimed to represent Bethesda Country Club. This seemed odd because Bethesda Country Club is in Maryland and he had a Florida area code. He seemed to know nothing about the area and was very evasive when I asked him where the club was. I declined his offer. I later called the club (after looking up the number he had just called from) and the comptroller said they had no affiliation with this company. In fact, he had never even heard of them. They called again today, spoke to the same sales rep who used the same sales pitch, claiming to call on behalf of Bethesda Country Club. I kept asking him if he worked for the club and he was again very evasive. I said, "You never answered my question, do you work for Bethesda Country Club?" And he said no, he didn't. I kept asking who he worked for and he continued to be very evasive and kept asking me other questions about my business. I asked him again and he said, "It sounds like we are wasting your time" and tried to end the call. I told him I knew who he was and that the club had never heard of him before, and told him not to call again. His evasiveness was especially shady. Who in their right mind would ever give their credit card info to a telemarketer who won't even tell you who they work for?
Reviewing comments above it is a scam - and a consistent one - now prying on people/businesses in the San Diego area.
Received similar offer, terms and pitch. Although cost is not bad for this type of direct marketing it is clear the issue is actual distribution and even the quality of the actual "magazine".
"Jaimee" (sales person from CC Publishing) is confirmed as a "real person" although not sure about the name being genuine.
