Catherine Howard of 40 Arnold Street, 110 Dawes Road(rental property 2 units) and 527 Jones Avenue (rental property - 2 units) contracted for me to do repairs, painting, plumbing and electrical updates and repairs to vacant apartment at 527 Jones Avenue in Toronto. I worked for her 6 days, 37 total hours from December 18 to December 30 2013. The agreed rate was $30 per hour for my labour. On the last day, she tried to start an arguement and threatened to hire other contractors to finish the small amount of work to be completed that day. She ended up running away that day and has avoided me altogether since then. She will not return my calls, emails and has not responded to my invoices and attempts to collect the $1100 owed to me. I will taking all steps available to collect from her.
I recommend to all contractors, tenants and businesses to avoid this deceitful woman.
She owns 3 Toronto properties but is mortgaged to the hilt. She is obsessive, strange and a cheat. She hired me with the intention to never pay me. She had paid me cash of about $300 for about 3 previous small jobs in the past with her so I was dismayed that she did this. She is a terrible landlord - she is nosy, pushy, doesn't seem to allow her tenants reasonable enjoyment of their tenancy. Catherine Howard was very critical toward a tenant who smoked outside of her apartment.
