I had been denied at previous car loan places because I am low income and could not get approved for a loan.
I was sold on Car Hop because they claim to build your credit with your montly payments and have a 18 month, 18,000 mile warranty.
I was told I only qualified for One car off of the lot a 2001 Mercury sable. The car was far from perfect condition, but I was told they would pay the expenses to make the car in working condition, and kept reminding me of the warranty option.
They say they have a 30 day gurantee that covers any work that needs to be done. I took the vehicle to one of their mechanics right away and told him Everything that needed to be fixed. I got the car back 2 weeks later with all the same problems :(
They informed me that they have been experiencing issues with this mechanic and referred me to another one in Richmond, I live in Oakland. This mechanic claims to have fixed the vehicle another week later.
Less than a month later the same engine light that was on when I purchased the vehicle came on again. They replaced my engine with a refurbished one, another week in the shop. Another month later that engine goes out as well. The mechanic says he cant fix it, after it is in the shop Another week.
Mind you each time my car is in the shop I am responsible for a $75 diagnostic fee. I am out of a car to drive to work. Plus I am still required to pay my $344 montly payment. If you are a day late they will not work with you and will turn off your ingnition so you cannot drive.
The manager is never in the office and Never returns phone calls. Their finance department is just as cluless and makes you jump through loop and hurdles to get any type of "decision" on your vehicle.
All in all, I have had this car for 4 months, could not drive it for 2 of the 4 months and have paid almost $1500 so far on a car with a KBB value of $3,400 but came to $7,000 after all my taxes and fees.
I am extremely upset with this company and how they treat their customers. They have no value for their customers and only care about the money when their main claim to fame is that they help low income individuals.
Never get a car from Car Hop !!!!
Can anyone out there help me get out of this loan, or fight for a better vehicle??
I bought a car from them about a year ago. The car was listed in Excellent condition and that was the basis for the price. You have to use their own financing, but this includes a Warranty for the length of the loan.
The car immediately started having problems. I found out that the brakes were worn compleyely, the struts were worn out completely which made the car uncontrolable, among other things that has to do with keeping the car under control on the road wheel bearings, and the automatic tranmission was leaking and slipping. The car was unsafe to drive and almost put me into a horrible accident because they refused to do anything to fix this car that was supposed to be in "Excellent" condition. I spent over $2,400 on repairs to make the car safe for the road and over $1,700 on rental cars when the car was being fixed or not running properly. At the same time I made sure that the car note was always paid on time.
Their Warranty is also a joke. They either tell you that your problem is not covered or play games with you on the phone by transfering you to another person, placing you or indifinate hold, or just hanging up. After constantly badgering them for a whole year they finally agreed to have the transmission looked at. You have to use repair shops under contract with them. The first one said there was nothing wrong with the transmission. The second said the transmission had to be replaced with a used one and kept the car for a week. They claimed they installed a used transmission, but it it was worse than ever and the leak that was just dripping before it was taken to their shop is now pouring out all over my garage and the transmission is now slipping way worse that when it was taken to them.
Only after bombarding them constantly with phone calls and e-mails sent to the corporate executives I finally was able to speak to someone about this car. They finally agreed to pay for the repairs and car rentals, but it was barely $2,000. Instead of sending me a check for the money I spent up front, which I really needed to pay my bills, they are applying this to the car note. This means it really costs them nothing. While I had to pay over $4,000 to fix their junky car they have "paid" less than half by reducing the purchase price of the car.
I've read over 100 reviews of all the ways this company has ripped people off. Only by getting everyone to come forward with their experiences can we put an end to this scam. This company is a 100% fraud.
Called to see what it took to get a car they told us to bring electric bill and proof of income dident bother to say it would take 3 he's for a bogus app they wanted credit card info in which they sed we dident have to have over the phone to process the but because it was not given got turned down for a car the lady that works there is nothing but rude to all the customers she would go sit in the back room and talk to a guy that worked there instead of doing her job she made several people late to there jobs because she was slow and not worried about doing her job but talking to other inployees also my bf hade gotten a van from them a few years ago and it was nothing but a lemon there were guys out working on the cars every car there most likely jimmy riged pos. I decently would not recommend no one to go threw them
Me and my boyfriend purchased a vehicle from CARHOP Auto Sales in Rockford, Illinois. We took the liner off of the bed yesterday and saw massive rust damage to the bed. It will take thousands of dollars to repair the damage. I believe CARHOP is responsible for the damage and that they should fix it.
