I purchased a vehicle and at the time I purchased my vehicle, I pulled a Carfax and the report was clean. Some time later when I pulled another Carfax on the same vehicle (if I was checking a report on a vehicle I am interested in purchasing, I usually buy the unlimited for 30 days and I go ahead and check all my existing vehicles), it stated that my vehicle had been in a vehicle accident in a city that I never go to and what is even stranger about the report, is that it reflects a date of the accident occurring during my time of owning the vehicle.
I asked Carfax to investigate it for me. I was told that I would need to contact the Police Department in the city where the ""so called"" accident occurred. I called the Police and they could not locate anything in their records. They referred me back to Carfax. Carfax will not take the false information off the report unless I obtain proof from the Police Department that the accident never occurred. I can't get any proof since there is no record of an accident occurring with my vehicle in their records. I guess my word is not good enough.
Long story short, the information is still on my Carfax report since I cannot get it removed. If I ever need to sell the vehicle, I am going to lose a sale, due to the Carfax report information is not true. The vehicle has never been in an accident. Before this situation happened, I use to believe a Carfax report 100%. Now I hardly take any of the information as being accurate.
This situation has totally ruined my faith in their report. I wish that the company would stand behind their product and make every effort to resolve this for me. I wonder how many other people are having the same problem as me. What a waste of time and money to buy a report that is not even 100% true.
